I just had this experience today when attending a Nazarene service with a friend. It was bothersome, to say the least, when the pastor talked about how the bread “represented” Christ’s Body and the wine “represented” Christ’s Blood. It may be some Evangelical decided to avoid such mistakes and the sloppiness of passing out thimble-sized cups of grape juice by coming up with this pre-packaged communion. I guess utility comes before reverence when communion is seen as nothing more than a “memorial.” .
I’ve seen them a Methodist and Lutheran Churches here in Cleveland, Ohio. I’ve never been to a Baptist Church, so I don’t know if any Baptist Churches in Cleveland have them.It is alot like the place where your knees go on the Catholic Prayer Bench. Longer, a little taller and you put your knees on the floor and place your elbows and head on the cushioned area.
That is what our Altar looks like.
Hasn’t anyone else here saw one?

Thanks.I’m assuming he means something like this:
I’m obviously confuzzled, that’s a kneeler - why would one’s knees end up on the floor and one’s elbows on the cushion? It is alot like the place where your knees go on the Catholic Prayer Bench. As far as I understand the way to being the chosen one I can say like it is written in the bible. “Do not judge your neighbor.” So… Like the blind man on the side of the road asking for his sight and knowing that all around him were saying: “SHUT UP!” He was the one to be chosen because he wanted it according to family roots. From BAR TIMEUS he wanted to be BAR DAVID as he said Son of David, have pity. We MUST claim our heavenly ROOTS because we are consecrated through baptism as SONS OF GOD. Nobody should claim for us our own priviledges. So how do they know if they’re “chosen ones?”
You are way off base in your nomenculture, this is after all a Catholic site, and according to the Catholic Church it is what you call a “table” or Lard’s Supper table. What you are calling a kneeling bench or “altar” is not the altar, and in fact is ot even a kneeling bench, it is a squatting bench that people sqaut arround not kneel at. Kneeling benches would have to be taller, becuase kneeling is upright, like a 90 degree angle, squatting or laying across one of those things is not kneeling at all. your head remains erect, it is not laid on any cushioned area at all.It is alot like the place where your knees go on the Catholic Prayer Bench. And what is a “Lard Table”??You are out of place with your rudness.
It is indeed an Altar and we do not “squat”, you kneel.
I was under the impression this part of the forum was dedicated to non-Catholic Religions.

Becuase what sandmountain is calling “kneeling” is actually squatting. Really kneeling as Catholics know it is a posture where the body is like an “L” the head remains upright, the waist is not bent. In his church the body is more like an “s” bent at the knees, and then again at the waist and the head is laid down.Thanks.

In his link the first two pictures are really kneelers where you may kneel upright.
The other pictures are squatting benches, they are too low to actaully kneel upright at.
And what is a “Lard Table”??
Are we talking religion or cooking grease?

I see that on top of being an elitist that you are also an Anti-Southern BigotThat is how deep southeners pronouce the word Lord, Lard like pork fat.
This part of the board is for questions from Protestants, Jews, Muslims to ask questions about the Catholic faith. It does not exist for anti Catholic Protestants to have a place to “correct” Catholics in their beleifs.
And no what you are doing is sqautting, laying around and on your “mourners benches”, kneeling, real kneeling is a erect vertical posture, the head remains stright upright.
Cheers Sandmountainsli!
I hate to do it but I am afraid that you should be reported to the Mods for your rudeness and obvious bigotry. That is how deep southeners pronouce the word Lord, Lard like pork fat.

I would imagine to you that it does seem odd.Cheers Sandmountainsli!
Does seem a bit odd (to me) to call a bench an altar though.
Please be more charitable. Remember, the protestants have an altar that we both share, and that is the Word of God. The gates of hell will not prevail on that altar either! They are Baptists after all, everything is nearly symbolic or figurative. One day the Crucifixion will be symbolic.
I am curious why it matters so much what you look like while praying. I highly doubt God cares what your posture is as long as your heart is in the right place while praying. If He did care He would probably want us face down on the ground. Then we would need mats like the muslims. This argument seems a little silly to me.That is how deep southeners pronouce the word Lord, Lard like pork fat.
