My dear brother monjilton,
Thank you so much for your love of Jesus and Mary, and your love for God’s Truth which you seek. This is a long thread but I read through it, and was surprised to find another brother on CAF, Francis recommended I might be of some help.
I’ve written much here on CAF about St. Louis de Montfort’s treatise on “
True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary”. God has blessed me through the years with a growing appreciation for the Wisdom He shared with St. Louis de Montfort centuries ago and continues to encourage in the hearts of His children.
My thoughts are that you could begin to read St. Louis de Montfort’s
True Devotion, if you have never read it before, and prayerfully seek God’s Will for you. St. Louis de Montfort as you may already know was steeped in Scripture and in explaining True Devotion He continually refers to God’s Revelation in Scripture, Tradition and the Magisterium.
If the Lord is moving you toward making your consecration after you have read St. Louis De Montfort’s Treatise, then take St. Louis’ words as your guide. There are some books which recommend additional readings, additional prayers and spiritual exercises, but these additions can be burdensome for many and difficult to sustain. I have found the 33 Days as St. Louis describes them in “True Devotion” paragraphs 227 -230, much simpler to follow. (I’ve linked the online version of True Devotion if you don’t have your own copy ).
The fact that you are in RCIA, and cannot yet receive Holy Communion, is the only part of his description which may incline you to wait and pray your Act of Total Consecration after you recieve Holy Communion as St. Louis recommends. If you continue to believe strongly God wants you to pray that Act of Consecration before Easter, you can do so and renew your consecration at the Easter Mass as well.
God gave me grace to pray my first Act of Total Consecration when I was a teen-ager, and had not even read True Devotion but was merely invited by our Religion teacher in a Catholic high school to make this beautiful gift of myself to Jesus through Mary. I renew it often in both the short form and the long form, and have made the 33 day preparation with growing gratitude for all the blessings God has given me and others through this devotion to Mary.
Recently, I completed the 33 days of Preparation, renewing my Total Consecration on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. God willing, I hope to make another 33 day journey before the Feast of the Annunciation, in March, 2019.
Trust the Lord to guide you, dear brother in Jesus and Mary. I know someone who made her Act of Total Consecration and because of a marriage impediment she cannot enter the RCIA process. She is convinced the Catholic Church is the True Church and continues to pray for her husban’s conversion. God is Infinite Love and Mercy, and He sent Jesus through Mary the first time and He continues to send Jesus through her today. Hope this helps a bit.
