I’m sorry you and your parents were let down by that Lutheran parish. Sadly, you are right that there are some so-called Lutherans who seem to want to jettison liturgy in exchange for megachurch, Lutheran Mass for (non)Lutheran mush.interesting, i had to find common ground with my parents who are protestant, about where to go to church here in hawaii where they were visiting. we decided on a lutheran church. yep. no cross big screen tv. ( actually 2 big screen tv’s) no mention of sin or redemtion. just happy go lucky guitar and empty songs. and an empty feel good sermon. which is sad. nothing of the lutheran liturgy ive heard in the past. dont like seeing it in Catholic congregations either. doctrines of sin and the work of Christ get swept under the rug with these type of worship styles. but at least in the Catholic Congregations i see this happening in. therei is still an altar, still a crucifix and still a place where i can pray the rosary afterward. my problem may be more with the style of worship, moreso than the decorations of the sanctuary.

actually jon, my parents liked it just fine. lol! im more the traditionalist. but yeah, something important seemed to be missing. i have heard traditional Lutheran services on the radio when i was driving truck and until part way thru, i thought i was listening to a Catholic mass! was blessed in a big way by these services. so i think it just may be me. im just a neo traditionalist i guess.( is that a real term? or did i just make it up) not just the lutherans, have discussed this with my Catholic brothers and sisters who are in their 60s. and they prefer the new style of worship too! oh well ill stick to the old ways. to each their own. not going to get up in arms about it. guess im just too old fashioned to get it. lol!I’m sorry you and your parents were let down by that Lutheran parish.
