Protestant Divorce/Catholic Marriage

Hi everyone,

I recently got engaged and my fiance and I plan on marrying in the Church. He’s a baptized Lutheran. Several years ago, he married a woman (also baptized, but the marriage was at a courthouse), but they divorced a year later when she left him for a woman.

Does this require an annulment? If so, how do we proceed/what is required?

Does this require an annulment?

Yes. If he has grounds for a decree of nullity he can pursue one. He is not free to marry anyone at this time.

Make an appointment with your pastor. The two of you need to discuss your situation with your pastor.
