I was under the impression that was only for venial sins.
K,

I believe that you did not read the entire link…you should consider doing so prior to posing a question…here is the final paragraph of that link…
The faithful who are aware of grave sin should celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation before presenting themselves for communion. Reconciliation is advised for all, no matter how light our sins may be. But the faithful struggling with ordinary sinful lives may find assurance that their participation at Mass will grant forgiveness through word, gesture and sacrament.

I don’t want to be disrespectful, but the men who wrote the Bible (penned it) were not Roman CAtholic, they were jewish and jewish Chrstians.
I did not claim they were Roman Catholic. The Catholic Church is not “Roman”, though that is the most common Rite here in the West., it is actually one of the latter Rites to develop. The oldest is, as you say, Palestininian/ Aramaic, and shorly after that the Syrian, as the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Most of the Eastern Catholics are Greek in liturgy, and in Europe there are a number of Slavic Rites.

But all the first Christians were Catholics, and those were the only Christians until the Reformation.500 years ago.

Well if you get 10RC together I’m pretty sure you will find some disagreements also.
This is true, of course, but Catholicism is not a matter of democratic vote or consensue. The Catholic faith is what has been handed down from Jesus through the Aposltes. There re many persons who claimed to be Catholic that do not hold to Catholic beliefs. Some of them don’t know any better. Some have just rebelled against the teachings of Christ.
Now that I have left the RCC, I’m non denominational whatever,
This is a very good description of modern ND practice.
and I’m thinking of becoming a Christian Unitarian (which means I am tolerant of others beliefs) but I follow Christ and his commandments .
It would be hard to find a faith community that is as tolerant of other faiths as the Catholic Church but still holds trut to folIowing the commands of Christ. Tolerance does not require watering down the Truth.
I get so tired of all this my faith is true, they don’t interpret it right, they are a cult, only we can be saved, I’m including Protestants here too, that its crazy.
Actually it sounds like a pretty run of the mill human attitude. Fortunately the Catholic Church is not like this.
I think I always was a Unitarian because as long as the person was a good person I didn’t give a hoot about their religion as long as they weren’t trying to cram it down my throat.
Such a statement is not consistent with the teaching of Jesus.
Then we can all just get along and no more wars and fighting in the name of God.
Indeed, let us pray for this,
