I have a feeling the Holy Spirit is calling you to understand why we all need an infallible office and why He gifted us with it and why it is the Catholic church.
I have reread my post and lol, for you are the eternal optimist

What you think is "clearing up the confusion’’ for those searching, sounds just like every other church who is saying "we are it’’.
Finish the thought - “We are it” but “we don’t have the fullness of truth and anyone who say they do is full of it” 🤔:man_shrugging:t3:

You may be correct, that the CC is quite unique in claiming infallibility, but not sure many say we only have unfull truth…for sure many disagree with that infallible Catholic claim…fullness of truth and infallibility are two separate but somewhat linked topics I think… I would also agree that some P’s do not make grandiose claims of their church and indeed may be humble enough to only claim an effectual, "definitive " gospel message, in uniting souls to Jesus and equipping them for their walk…that is as full as they would profess of themselves.

For sure the CC has a compelling story, and has a right to claim a lot.

.but like the old beta /VHS choice, vhs had the most compelling/popular sales pitch and won out, but beta was the acclaimed better product…

or like in the book of Job, the three adult/older friends should have known better in their counsel to Job but did not (should have been the most compelling), yet it was the latecomer, the youngster Elihu who had his pulse on the heart of God with his counsel.

Around and around we go. Its all very impressive - except to God’s people who are seeking and all they see is confusion.

Peace!!!

Why don’t we keep it simple. Preach Christ crucified for sins, and resurrected to bring new life to those who would believe, and let the Shepherd place His called out ones where He wills. Preach the Christ we all have in common, and leave out our differences of church, until later, after they meet Christ.

I dont have a problem with this at all. Do you think we should just ignore the OP and the many other people who are confused after running into these “Christians” on CARM?

Peace!!!

Happy Cakeday, mcq72.

I am another eternal optimist. My mother was Protestant most of her life. She swore she would never convert and become Catholic. Now she is Catholic. So never say never. It can happen to you too.

LOL, but shall I say there go I also , but by the grace of God ?

Thank you for hoping for me your "light’’ on the matter , as I hope for you both mine.

You are right that today people in general hold to a relative idea of truth. Yet that is not what Jesus wanted for his Church. He prayed " John 17: 21…”Father that they may all be one ; even as You, Father , are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.”. The apostle Paul taught us " Eph4:1 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism” The early church exerted authority supporting it, Phil 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel” Phil 2: 2 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, 2 make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose” The Scriptures teach us Unity. We have a Church left by Jesus with Structured authority. Acts 14:22-24 “And when they had appointed elders for them in every Church, with prayer and fasting, they committed them to the Lord in whom they believed.” Acts 20:17 “From Miletus he sent to Ephesus and called to him the elders of the Church. 18 And when they had come to him, he said to them… 28 Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the Church of God which He purchased with His own blood. 29 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 therefore be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years I did not cease to admonish each one with tears.” As for knowing exact numbers of devout Catholics, I’m sure there are studies out there - you are chatting with one now. 🙂 His Church is here.

That is true many Catholics are not being obedient to the Church. There is sin in all of us.
I wonder, though, if the poster was meaning that non denominationalism is on the rise and mainline denominations are decreasing. Just a thought.

I just don’t understand how people think that religions founded 500-1500 years after Christianity are true such as Islam or Protestantism. As if Jesus Christ and his Church wasn’t enough…
To be fair, Jews probably say the same about Catholics.
