is it important to know that Jesus Christ started a Church, not a religion?

before answering, to me the concept that Jesus started a Church implies a creation that is more than a religion. for purposes of my question, i see religions as having less definition than the Lord’s Church.

also, most religions do not have a central source of authority aside from that assent they give to inanimate books which assent is also divisive because the words in books must be interpreted. the authority present in the RCC is there to unify.

the Church Jesus founded has a well-defined source of “living” (as opposed to an inanimate source) authority that Jesus Himself established within It.

i doubt quite strongly that Pope Francis is trying to replace the Lord’s Church with a world wide religion. on the other hand, it is not unlikely that Pope Francis would love to see only one Church with every one giving assent to It.

What kind of church would that be? Would he want all religions in this one church? What would we believe?

that would be the Church of which he is the Supreme Shepherd. the Church for which he is the Living Authority established by Christ.

I think sometimes people don’t realize that almost every person speaks a different language, even within the same language we’re born learning. Our minds learn different things, at different rates, and Linguistically, the definitions of words we have aren’t going to be in perfect line and order with the way others use those words, hence the difference in terms of understanding what Christ meant, along with differences in understanding the meanings of the words “Church,” “Religion,” and “Spirituality.”

Because there are many people who Follow different religions, or even no religion at all, I like to address things sometimes in terms of Spirituality. One can, in essence, “find God” in their religion, or the one they grew up with, or in themselves, even, without religion, and not even recognize it for what it is, but follow along, justly, treating others as God and Christ would ask us to, etc, without having to read the Bible, or treat it like a literal History or Science book.

Those folks, like the Westboro Baptists, for example, I would consider more of a Cult, since they behave like one, and they all speak and profess the same exact things, the same exact ways, and are “punished” for it if they don’t (being removed from the group, and losing one sense of self, even if it’s a confused and harmful sense, still hurts, and is one of the things that keep cultists so bound), following words in the strictest sense to the extreme that they don’t even make sense because of all the Literal contradictions in doing it that way.

Following along, justly, treating others as God and Christ would ask us to, etc, without having to read the Bible, or follow the rules set out in it sounds like a nice church, very inclusive, but I prefer the Catholic Church of my ancestors. They knew what was a sin. They believed in repentance and in making sacrifices for God and their families. They spent many hours in prayer and loved our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They confessed their sins and then asked for God’s mercy and would rather die than give up their faith. They were strong and courageous and are resting peacefully in Heaven now. I hope they and all the true saints in Heaven are praying for me and those in this world now. The battle on this earth is for your soul. Sometimes that means following the beliefs of the old church and believing in sin, and realizing that the sins we commit on earth are what will prevent us from reaching our heavenly home.

So is every true Christian. Those who have severed themselves from the Church have predictably come to view a Divine celebration has chaos.
