Most Protestants who have issues with Marian doctrine of the Church do not realized it that when they preach this, they are doing it out of the hatred of Mary indirectly.
🤷 IMO, you’re cracked.

It is a bait thread. I only wanted to prove that how foolish it is that newbiew forum members makes false misconception of the CC is just as silly as this thread.
Well, if you are content in being a hypocrite more power to ya my friend…

I think the moderators should delete this thread since it is a fraud…

I suggest you read the previous text which cites the reasoning behind this thread.
Man, I am an Anglican coverting to the Catholic Church, I never hated Mary, sorry, I don’t ā€œgetā€ where you are coming fromā€¦šŸ¤·

Somethings are worth repeating.

Let me quote the REASON behind this:

**I made the general statement that Protestants hate Mary because they deny Catholic teachings on Mary. So I made a false generalization that Protestants hate Mary when in fact they do not.

So if I persist in this, they would start to get the idea how ridiculeous it is for them to say something about the Catholic faith which is not true.**

There’s nothing to ā€˜get’, Manny feels he can bait people with threads that he has no intention of backing up. He doesn’t even believe the assertion he made in the OP… This is a fraudulent thread and should be deleted.

1 Peter 3:[15] but in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you, **yet do it with gentleness and reverence; **

With all love and respect Manny, I don’t see how this thread further advances the above words of St Peter.

Apologetics is not about winning arguements, it’s about planting seeds. Most of all we must pray for the Holy Spirit to make grow those seeds we plant.

Both sides, Catholic and Protestant, have an ardent and sincere love of God, a firm belief that He raised Jesus Christ from the dead to be Lord of all, and we all can agree that scripture is authoritative. We would do well to remember these points of unity in any discussion on the faith.

baiting strikes me as a fairly uncharitable approach to conversation, whether undertaken by Protestants or Catholics. Are we really here to play ā€œgotchaā€?

Most Protestants who have issues with Marian doctrine of the Church do not realized it that when they preach this, they are doing it out of the hatred of Mary indirectly.

And if they were to say, with equal & opposite unreason, that you are a hater of Christ - what answer could you make  ?

Catholics who stoop to unreason, bad logic, & slander like that do more to drag the name of the Church in the dust than a whole regiment of Jack Chicks. They do a fantastic job of proving the worst that is said about Catholics.

Quite apart from the gutless ignorance involved in refusing to face facts as to why good Christian people ā€œhave issues with Marian doctrineā€. If those issues aren’t faced, what does that say about Catholic doctrine, & its claims to be Christian ? It’s a damning indictment of the Church, if the Church can’t answer for the doctrines it so much claims to value.

I shall quote a Protestant, ā€œIt’s only me and Jesus period.ā€ Ok, how about those other Christians, or how about when Jesus gave us his mother at the cross. ā€œBehold your mother.ā€
Another twisted Scripture passage and you have Mary as our mother. See how this brainwashng thing works??

Your statement is a joke. It has no basis and no logic. I think you indirectly hate Jesus because you put Mary first. Does that make any sense. God help you that it doesn’t!

No I do not hate Jesus. When I am free of mortal sin I received Jesus Christ at Mass. You Protestants do not even have real presence of Jesus Christ. Even if you claim you do, your Holy Orders are null and void.

and why should I hold your Church any credit when they ordain women priest and allow gay priests as bishops. Your Bishop even say homosexual is not a sin.

Mannyfit75;4256003:
That’s not what you said. You said:

My earthly mother is, well, 80 years old. Since Jesus is my brother, the BVM is, in a spiritual sense, certainly a mother figure to us all.
She is also perhaps the singularly best example of faith.
But those who disagree with me do not hate her necessarily, not even unknowingly.
Jon
I know what I wrote.

When they claim that Mary was never a virgin one prime example and they have no motherly relationship with Mary like Catholics and Orthodox.

This the common view I encounter from Protestants, it’s only, Jesus and me and no one else."

God spoke of a Family. God, as our Father, and those who believe and are baptized in Christ are adapted sons and daughters of God. Like any family, a family has a mother and father.

In Protestantism, it’s only the Father but no mother. There is no family in Protestantism.

Two points:

    1. That is not even close to evidence - let alone proof - of hatred.
    1. Maybe the Protestant understanding is correct. That kind of ā€œlop-sidednessā€, here, of having a Father but no mother, seems to be a pattern in God’s works. It is a constant refrain in the Bible that God has no equal, no councillor, no colleague - why should He have one in Mary ? Or what can He not do, that she alone can ? If He cannot do all that she can - He is not God, but a god. If ideas about the BVM corrupt truths about God, they show themselves to be false, & fit only to be rejected; exalting the BVM is too high a price to pay for a corrupted belief in God.
    1. To have a mother would be symmetrical; but mere symmetry is not a sufficient reason to believe that an idea is Christian. God’s dealings with men are not symmetrical; they are asymmetrical. There is no need, & no place, for a mother in our dealings with God. Mary is not God the Father’s partner, but a creature, nothing more. Theere is symmetry there - & one that keeps her firmly in her place, which is perfectly good one. We have to go by what is revealed in the NT; not by our own clever ideas of how we *should *be related to God.
    1. If we do not, it is an empty mockery to speak of an NT ā€œcanonā€, because a canon is a yardstick, like a plumbline or spirit level; it tests for deviation from the straight & true. So does the canon of the Bible. Go outside it, & it can no longer test for deviation.
    1. Jesus did not ā€œaffirmā€ the family, & He made no exception for His mother. The test of belonging to His Father is acceptance of His Father’s Will - it is an ethical & an eschatological test; & it is no more than true to say that too much honour paid her has been divorced from ethics. That sort of religion is not Christian but pagan, & Christ is Our Saviour from it. Despite being who she is, Mary cannot save us from it, or from anything whatever.
    1. Why should the NT speak of the BVM as our mother anyway ? The ancient world was filled with mother-goddesses & such-like figures, & Mary would have looked like just another one. The Jews had had immense trouble getting that poison of their system - why expect it to be re-inforced ? The Jewish doctrine of God as Unique & Incomparable & Holy & Righteous had taken centuries to learn - why pollute it with something almost indistinguishable from polytheism ? It would been the easiest thing in the world for her to become a Christian version of Isis (who was worshipped from Britain to Mesopotamia). That would have been a splendid way to make Christian belief just another Mediteterranean cult - historically, that is what it is.

I believe this is what Manny wants:

I do not believe that Catholics worship Mary.

Is that what you wanted to see, Manny? It is true. Catholics don’t.

Catholics do not worship Mary and yes.

I am like you Manny. I hate Catholic theology. I hate that they are deceived by lies. I love Catholics though. Some of my best friends are Catholics…

Which is a perfectly intelligible position - but (there always is one), how good is your understanding of Cath. theol.? It isn’t the tripe that too often passes for ā€œCatholic apologeticsā€ 😦

Isn’t your handle Dispensationalist ? (I saw your sig…)
