by placing all the emphasis on the “bread” and “wine” AFTER the consecration, it is taking the attention OFF Christ and His Real Presence
After the consecration it is not longer bread and wine. Once consecrated it remains the body and blood of Christ. How does this take attention OFF of Christ?
Quote from a Church Father that says the Eucharist returns to mere bread and wine. So, actually, IF you are correct and some were questioning Real Presence, the appropriate thing would have been to affirm Real Presence, not invent a whole, new, dogma - with ZERO affirmation in Scripture or Tradition
As a Lutheran you do not have the Real Presence. You do not have a valid priesthood. When your priest says the words of consecration it remains mere bread and mere wine. And you seem to forget that Transubstantiation was declared dogma in 1551, at Trent, which was in direct reaction to Luther and Lutherans. They did NOT question Real Presence. It’s Transubstantiation that we don’t regard as dogma. We do regard Real Presence as such.
