Weird
Not a bad thing. Just surprising. does this count as cultural appropriation?😝

Luke 9:50 - Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

I hope the pastor continues to spread the Good News!

Perhaps the local Diocese should approach them about a prayer service? I wouldn’t waste this opportunity the Holy Spirit has provided 😇

I hate to be the pessimist about this. But I looked through their website and there is no indication of a Catholic leaning. Except that they use the word, “consecration” a great deal.

Is it possible this might be a ruse to lure Catholics out of the Catholic Church?

On the one hand - it’s rather nice to see the Sacred Heart honored.

On the other hand - if they’re doing this to lure some segment of Catholics to join them, then it’s not so nice.

If they honor Our Lady of Guadalupe or the Immaculate Heart of Mary next, I may start smelling a rat.

I assume the good intentions of Christians the great majority of the time. If they are sincerely trying to follow Jesus through the Bible, then devotion to the Incarnation will logically lead them, step by step, to understanding the role of Mary.

Non denominational churches lack some advantages of most Protestant churches. They don’t have the guidance of a few hundred years of their own tradition. This means they are more open to drifting into nonsense.

On the other hand they have an advantage: they are not “reacting” against Catholicism. Their doctrines were not defined in opposition to Rome. This means they are more open to drifting towards Rome. It does not happen often, but consider that it may happen.

Protestants have been incorporating Catholic prayer and practice since the beginning. This isn’t really that strange. Catholics may not realize it but many Mainline Protestant churches use a lectionary based off the Catholic lectionary. This is the new post Vatican II lectionary.

Also, I went to a Methodist funeral a few weeks ago and the minister said ‘the Lord be with you…’. The congregation answered, ‘and also with you’. I don’t know if this is left over from Anglicanism or something brought back from Catholicism.

Despite these shared things, some of recent origin, they still remain separated.

If you hear “and with thy spirit”, suspect an Anglo-Catholic, of the traditional sort.

If you’re Anglican, then Our Lady of Walsingham is part of your heritage, and I’d expect you to have such a shrine.

It’s different from a mega church of uncertain denomination suddenly glomming onto a practice strongly associated with Catholics.

We use this in our liturgy. The United Methodists tend to be more liturgical in their worship services as opposed to the Free Methodist - this is only based on my knowledge of both of these churches in our area.

It’s different from a mega-church of dubious antecedents in more ways than one.

But don’t give the Anglican world too much credit, in that respect. There exist Anglicans for whom such a shrine would be unthinkable.

Motley is the word for Anglicans.

And fish fries. dont forget fish fries. If they copy those too… the gloves come off 😤😤😤😤
