Protestant missions in Catholic areas

I’ve done mission work in predominantly Protestant areas of my own denomination also. There are lots of options for mission work, including just helping build up dying churches. I would be going for the sake the all Christians. The group going Is who sounds like is going mostly for the Protestant only side. I have the opportunity to then do a lot of good I think, but I would again, want to honor your church also. Hence why I asked, and I believe this gives me a good concept, I’ve done similar things before, used my “protestant” apologetics to keep someone within the Faith, but encouraged them to return to their own church and not have to come to mine. Many, many protestant would disagree that I did the right thing. But I take a more moderate, maybe “Geislerian” or J.I. Packer view on Catholicism. So they can discuss it with me or get over it. 🙂

Ecce Homo:
Well, basically yes. My understanding is that the Lutherans use the proper form for baptism, which means the baptism is valid in the eyes of the Church. Until the child, deliberately and with full knowledge, commits a grave sin, the child would be in the state of grace, and effectively would be a Catholic .
Does theis mean then, that according to you, if a Lutheran had not committed a mortal sin and was twelve years old, he would be able to receive the Catholic Holy Communion in a Catholic Church, since he was a Catholic according to what you have said?

Then I wish you blessings on your mission. Let us know how it goes.

No. The said twelve year old would not have received the necessary instruction. Even children raised Catholic are not to be given Holy Communion before having proper instruction, first Confession, etc.

What I am saying is that if the said 12 year old died in the state of grace, he would go to heaven (though perhaps after a time in Purgatory for venial sins, etc.) In the sense that everyone in heaven is Catholic–this is not the same as saying that only those who call themselves Catholic on earth will be in heaven–in that sense, the 12 year old is Catholic.

I really don’t like the idea of trying to convert Catholics. It reminds me of one of my in-laws- his son wanted to join a group on mission but the group was Baptist (why he wanted to go, I don’t know - just really wanted to share the work they were doing, I guess). Anyway, they wouldn’t let him go unless he was rebaptized in their church! Needless to say, he didn’t go.

Knight4God,

You seem to be rare among Protestants. I am an “EX”-Protestant and am now a “Born Again” Catholic! Praise God!

To answer your question, just bring all souls to God. If you find a Catholic with little Faith, just help him find a true love for God and leave him in the Catholic Church and tell him to help other Catholics find God too. God is not only in the Catholic Church, the Church IS His visible body on earth.

There are people strong and weak of faith in every denomination. Don’t try to proselytize for your sect (steal Catholics/others). Just leave the souls in the sects/denominations they are in and help them to find God one on one. I know many Baptists who claim they love Jesus but virtually ignore the Holy Spirit or the Father. I went to Baptists sects for 27 adult years. Two Baptist preachers in Tooele, Utah made me Catholic when I studied what they preached and learned the ‘truth’. The ‘truth’ was not what they preached either:nope: . They mixed truth with lies and did it well enough to hide the truth from me for years. When I talk to Baptists I sometimes just try to help them understand that we have a Trinity and they need to love ALL three persons of God, not just one. If they want to stay Baptist it’s their choice, I just like to help them come closer to the Holy Spirit for example (He led me home to Christs body, His Catholic Church).

Remember, Christ only founded ONE Church. Men founded the rest by not obeying Christ and staying loyal to Him alone. Click here to see who founded a few various denominations.

Don’t convert Christians, just help educate them and bring them to a closer relationship with our God.
