So in the course of the reformation the list of the bible books for the protestant came out to be 66 books … I am not big in numerology but i think the meaning of the number is interesting . Here’s what it mean , just let me know what you think:

Sixty Six : 66 - Christian Numerology meaning deals in reference with secular or idol worship. Fallacy, trickery, guile or deception is also used in connection with this number

So scholars have seen that in the bible numbers always have meaning… SO why if the protestant canon is correct; why would God allow such number for the bible list of books???

A number is what determines the canon? I’m sorry, but this argument is stupid and poor.

I could also say, “Catholicism comes from Rome. God hates Rome. Therefore, the Roman Catholic Church is false.” You wouldn’t like that, would you.

God bless.

Six is associated with beauty by kabbalistic mystics. Sixty-six is the gematria value of allah which means ‘the god’. It would also accord with Adonai which means Lord.

However, only some orthodox jews would consider it as a kind of sign.

How do you square up your catholic faith with numerology, when belief in such things is strictly forbidden.

It’s not an arguement. It’s just a very interesting numerical phenomena. Catholics have 73 books in their cannon. 7 and 3 are both holy numbers. Protestants remove 7 - the number of perfection - and they end up with 66. Not proof, but definitely thought-provoking…

There are 66 chapters of Isaiah, what do you make of that?

Interesting.

How does this square with this from the catechism:

Divination and magic
2115 God can reveal the future to his prophets or to other saints. Still, a sound Christian attitude consists in putting oneself confidently into the hands of Providence for whatever concerns the future, and giving up all unhealthy curiosity about it. Improvidence, however, can constitute a lack of responsibility.

2116 All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to “unveil” the future.[48] Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone.

John 6:66
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

Not only 66, but three sixes!

Honestly, I agree with others that don’t think this is a major argument point that proves anything or can be solely relied upon, but I also do think that it is most certainly thought provoking.

I remember hearing about a mathematical study done on the Bible, a sort of mapping of words - I just can’t recall the specifics - but I remember the result, all the formulas and patterns and everthing all came down to one word - truth.

That’s easy. No one is trying to gain anything by this obseveration. It’s just interesting. It proves nothing. If someone were trying to predict the future or read minds or something like that using the numbers, that would be wrong. I see nothing in the observation that contradicts the "honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone."

**You can’t deny that God seems to gravitate toward the numbers 40, 12, 7, and 3. It also says clearly in Revelation that the beast was marked with the number of man: 666. **

The study was done by a Russian christian Ivan Pannin. He found a huge number of statistically significant number patterns throughout the whole of the bible. His book is very large and very expensive now. But, even though there seem to be a lot of improbable number patterns in the hebrew and greek texts. No one has ever been very moved by his discoveries. It just doesn’t strike anyone as, good news.

Each number has a positive and a negative side. The negative side of 6 is debauchery and lust. The positive side is beauty and enjoyment.

But it’s also good to reduce the numbers: 66 reduces to 6 + 6, which is 12, the number of Hebrew tribes and the number of Apostles.

73 reduces to 7 + 3, which is 10, which reduces to 1 + 0, which is One, the number of God.

So, we can see that God is the Source; He is the reason why there were 12 tribes and 12 Apostles. Likewise, the Catholic Bible is the source, the origin, of the Protestant Bible.

(None of this is doctrine, so don’t take me to court for heresy.)

It’s interesting trivia for sure.

In his defense Joseph interpreted dreams, like in Guy’s post says is ok if it comes from God. So if God’s telling us something, or we think He is, then we need to first make sure it’s not tricks from satan. I really don’t think this single number means much.

If you’re talking to protestants this will annoy them, so be careful!

If you’re trying to prove that Protestantism is “trickery” or “secular” then there’s a lot of better, more convincing evidence than numerology.

I read about an exorcism a while after the protestants broke away that happened in Austria to a very devout girl, who they found out God had allowed to be possessed so that He could prove the Real Prescence and convert Protestants, and as a side note the demons said that they had a hand in the reformation. On more websites than just this one, so it’s definitely approved (99.9% sure). Here’s a quote:
Exorcism_of_Nicola_Aubrey:
As the strange circumstances of Nicola’s possession became known everywhere, several Calvinist preachers came with their followers, to “expose this popish cheat,” as they said. On their entrance, the devil saluted them mockingly, called them by name, and told them that they had come in obedience to him . One of the preachers took his Protestant prayer-book, and began to read it with a very solemn face. The devil laughed at him, and, putting on a most comical look, he said: “Ho! Ho! My good friend; do you intend to expel me with your prayers and hymns? Do you think that they will cause me any pain? Don’t you know that they are mine? I helped to compose them!”

“I will expel thee in the name of God,” said the preacher, solemnly.

“You!” said the devil, mockingly. “You will not expel me either in the name of God , or in the name of the devil . Did you ever hear of one devil driving out another?”

“I am not a devil,” said the preacher, angrily, “I am a servant of Christ.”

“A servant of Christ, indeed!” said Satan, with a sneer. “What! I tell you you are worse than I am. I believe, and you do not want to believe. Do you suppose that you can expel me from the body of this miserable wretch? Ha! Go first and expel all the devils that are in your own heart!”

The preacher took his leave, somewhat discomfited. On going away, he said, turning up the whites of his eyes, “O Lord, I pray thee, assist this poor creature!”

“And I pray Lucifer,” cried the evil spirit, “that he may never leave you, but may always keep you firmly in his power, as he does now. Go about your business, now. You are all mine , and I am your master.”

It’s a very good read!

66 is six short of 72 - there are by some counts 72 books in the RC Bible. 66 and 6 = three sixes in a row, so: the number of chapters in Isaiah is a warning that the Catholic Bible is the 666, or the great Antichrist.

“Adolfo” is a form of the name of Hitler - a name which is six letters long. Maybe the OP is also the Antichrist  A & H are the first and eighth letters of the alphabet - the sum of one and eight = nine. Which divides into 666 exactly 74 times. 7 & 4 = 11 - which is the number of iniquity, as Augustine explains in the “City of God”.

Convincing or what 😉 ?

Mmhhh… and this is only 66 (LINK) and not 666… that would be worse…

That is about as ridiculous as the “Vicarius Filii Dei” argument… or the fact that the ancient Greek word for “the Latin speaking man” is LATEINOS which has a numeric value of 666 too. (LINK to the article)
We do not need to be reading something into things that might be there or might show up… we will see what happens…

By the way…
  • The sum of all the numbers on a roulette wheel is 666.
  • 666 was a winning lottery number in the 1980 Pennsylvania Lottery scandal, in which equipment was tampered to favor a 4 or 6 as each of the three individual random digits.
  • 666 was the original name of the Macintosh SevenDust computer virus that was discovered in 1998.
  • In the Bible, 666 is the number of Adonikam’s descendants who return to Jerusalem and Judah from the Babylonian exile (see Ezra 2:13).
  • In the Bible, 666 is the number of gold talents that King Solomon collected in a single year (see 1 Kings 10:14 and 2 Chronicles 9:13).
