I will tell you this sir that it is documented that Catholic apologists have actually changed history to prove there argument. Im not going to get into all of that becasue it always proves frutless. Catholics have circular reasoning and it makes it difficult to debate
Oh really. What is your source. I have thoroughly investigate the claims of the Catholic Church and they have proven to be true. History shows that the Catholic Church canonized Scripture and the African Canon attest to this.

Yes, I did answer this and I will say it one more time. Your sins are cleansed period, GONE period. You suffer loss in the flesh, ie; smoking, alcohol, whatever.

We are disiplined because that is the natural course God has chosen.
If God does not even know that you smoke or drink alcohol to excess, then how can He discipline you for these behaviours?

Nature is not something separate from God; nature is the ordinary working out of God’s will. If “nature” knows that you smoke (ie: if your lungs are turning black) then God knows, because God operates mostly through nature, and it is God who applies the natural consequences (that your lungs don’t work as well as they used to) - that is, the “discipline.” But there is more to God’s discipline than this, since at the Judgement Day, you will be called to account for how you treated your body.

Whoa now, no need to jump down my throat. 🙂 Here’s the relevant section from the CCC:
As you can see, the Catechism doesn’t equate the “prison” of 1 Peter with Purgatory. Sorry. 🤷
You’ve proved my point. I never said the CCC equates ‘prison’ with purgatory.

Idioms (such as “covered his feet”) cannot be taken literally when translated into modern languages.

The CCC explains as much.

Your posting appeared flippant: “Don’t Catholics believe in Sheol/Abraham’s bosom…” as if we LITERALLY believe there is a placed called “PRISON” and “SHEOL” and “ABRAHAM’S BOSOM.”

That’s the stuff many evangelicals PRESUME about Catholics.

We may not have unforgiven sin at any particulair time but we are still not perfect since there is still a taint in us.
See, this is why I’m not a Protestant anymore. (I’m not a Catholic yet, either, but not by choice :D) It’s too simplistic yet makes no sense. So, God forgives us and cleanses us, yet there’s still a taint. So He doesn’t do it right? If he cleanses us, we’re clean. There’s no taint. If I put a load of white laundry in to wash and I finish it up and the clothes still look dingy (even if they smell clean and have been washed, so therefore, a “taint” is still on them), do I put them straight into the dryer? No, I wash them again, maybe throw some extra bleach in or something. Mark 7:15 says: “There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.” That would mean that, conversely, nothing from without can cleanse a man, either. There has to be an INNER cleansing, not just a blanket thrown over sin that’s still there.
God can not see our sins because they are covered with the blood of Christ. You or I can never be worthy enough to gain heaven. It is all because of Christ and His sacrifice.
“by Grace alone” “by Faith alone” “In Christ alone” “Glory to God alone”
Scripture alone
  1. Even if God can’t see our sins, by that reasoning, they’re still there. Nothing unclean can enter heaven, whether God can see it or not.
  2. How can you be saved by grace alone and also by faith alone. Doesn’t it then mean that you’re either saved by grace or you’re saved by faith, but not both?
All through the Gospels, Christ alludes to the difficulty in obtaining eternal salvation…(camels through needle eyes, narrow doors, etc) Too many Protestants, especially the non-denominational ones want to push the “Easy Button”. ("I believe and I read the Bible, so I’m good-to-go)
Exactly!!
forget, can’t see—same thing
No, it’s not. My keys are under my jacket. They’re still there, even if I can’t see them. I still know they’re there, even though I can’t see them.
I’ve forgotten where I put my favorite pair of earrings. It doesn’t mean they’re gone. It just means I can’t find them. I can’t see them. I can’t find them. I can’t remember where they are. However, they still exist. They’re still in my house somewhere. By your reasoning, the sin’s still there.
Hmm- well, there is no original, at least no one has found it…
Um, actually, there’s no such thing as an “original” Bible that dates back to Jesus’ time. Corinthians, Ephesians, etc were letters written TO the churches they address (the church at Corinth, the church at Ephesus, the church at Rome, etc) written at different times in different places by different people. They were then copied and spread around. The copies were not “originals”, but they said the same thing, so what does it matter? Those copies (and possibly some originals) were later gathered together by the Catholic Church to form what is now known as the Bible.
The seven books were added by the RCC to back up some of their doctrine… even though some scriptures in it contrdicted the other books…
If the Catholic Church was the one who put the Bible together in the first place, why would they then need to add to it to “back up” their doctrine?
Im not supposed to be getting replies since I unsubscrbed. Guess i will just have to not reply and it will die out eventually.
Every time you reply ir subscribes you again.

As you’re so fond of saying, prove it.
Your accusations are false as can be. I got so tired trying to keep with the questions that im giving up answering the same question over and over. I don’t like catholic indulgences.
one of you say James white lost his debates but that is what catholics always say even when they lose. I don’t claim to be an apolgist but I do claim that I trust in Jesus alone.
You haven’t actually answered any questions. You’ve said they’re wrong, but you haven’t said why. That’s the problem with Protestantism. They don’t ever give a reason, they want you to believe what they believe without backing it up. Yet Catholics can back up every one of their beliefs.
This is actually one of the reasons I finally realized I had to become a Catholic seven years ago - because by the time you make sense of it all, you end up with Catholic theology - so, I figured, why not just start with Catholic theology, and save a lot of time and hassle? 🙂
I’ve believed many of the same things Catholics do for years, but didn’t realize it until I started researching Catholicism. I never could understand why the Protestant churches insisted on believing things based on a twisted interpretation of the Bible instead of what the Bible actually says.

One more question to add to the list for those who believe only in the Bible. How would you then know that Christ even lived? Because it’s in the Bible? How do you know? You know because it’s historically backed up that he lived. Yet, if you discount historical evidence, how do you know? Why should we ignore history? My Western Civ book tells about WWII. Are the personal accounts from people other than the writers of the history books inaccurate simply b/c they’re not in the history book itself? Should I go on only one history book to tell me everything I need to know about WWII?

**You say:
We believe that Jesus’ **blood does wash away the sin but it does not remove the payment of debt owed for that sin arising from God’s justice nor the consequence for that sin to our soul.>>>

By saying the above you are saying Jesus failed on the cross. He paid the debt. You can not pay it. I see why now millions of cradle catholics have left the RC religion because they have no real hope.
With this I quit the forum. For some reason I still get replies even though I unsubscribed.
Bill
Bill, no, it is you who is saying that Christ failed. God so loves souls that he would permit millions of committed sinners fall to hell if in His omniscience He knew there was one more just soul to be harvested for heaven by one unborn yet.

It is sad that you try to run away here and impute your guilt and blame on me for doing that. I will not be your scapegoat - Jesus did that for us all. It is up to you to listen to the truth.

You can run from God, and no I am not He, but you can not hide from Him. If you are His he will send the hound of heaven after you and get you back into His flock. No man can escape God’s love for those He calls to Himself and not a single soul will be lost that He knows are destined to be His. The good news is you can choose your destiny. Choose wisely.

James

This is what I don’t understand. If “God can not see our sins” aren’t the sins still there, even if He can’t see them? So if we still have our sins, how can we enter heaven since the Bible tells us nothing impure will enter it?
Frankly Im tired of being called a liar just because I credit Christ with my salvation and Him alone. Im tired of when a Catholic does not have an answer they come back with a riddle that can not be answered. So, with that im a signing off for good.

“by Grace alone” “by Faith alone” “In Christ alone” “Glory to God alone”
Scripture alone
Where did I call you a liar? I’m honestly trying to understand your position.

Frankly, I don’t get it. Does God pretend our sins aren’t there? Is He non-omniscient regarding any sins we commit after we’re saved? Are those in heaven “snow covered dung hills”? Do I have to have my sins forever and ever?

Really, honestly, I don’t get it. Surely you’re not saying God is incapable of wiping out our sins. And if our sins are wiped out, everything falls into place. We would be pure, so we could enter heaven–not by our own power but because God wiped out our sins. God wouldn’t be limited in what He can see and can’t see. God wouldn’t have to pretend we’re pure when we really weren’t.

Imputed righteousness just doesn’t make sense to me.

Sorry if all this got answered later in the thread. I was gone almost all day yesterday and so only came back to the thread this morning to discover there has been quite a bit of debate, but I haven’t read all of it yet.
