Frankly Im tired of being called a liar just because I credit Christ with my salvation and Him alone. Im tired of when a Catholic does not have an answer they come back with a riddle that can not be answered. So, with that im a signing off for good.

“by Grace alone” “by Faith alone” “In Christ alone” “Glory to God alone”
Scripture alone
Frankly we’re tired of you making such statements–however Our Hope is in the Lord, so we continue to engage you. Signing off for good is only an admission that you don’t have answers for the questions many have been asking, and rather than investigating the half-truths your man-made traditions have fed you, you remain the blind being led by the blind into the pit.

I’m sure many are praying that you allow ‘ratio’ to work along with your ‘fides’ (reason and faith) and ultimately enter into full Communion with Our Lord in the CHurch He left us.

I thought God is Omniscient?
God can do or not do what He wants. He even forgets the sins we have commited after salvation.

Im unsubscribing because on another thread I was called a liar severl times by a catholic… Im outta here.

But that’s not what you said: “God cannot see our sins.” So now you are saying that He chooses to forget them. We agree. Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation to which He entrusted the Apostles and passed on to His Bishops and Priests.

Running away because someone called you names? That’s a poor excuse for leaving. Even the Rock, Peter, after denying Him three times went back for more until his ultimate death by crucifixion.

Come on back after you’ve licked your wounds. We’ve all done it.

I’m fascinated as to how so many Protestants come here, bait arguments, then get angry when we don’t capitulate.

Frankly, they scare me.

While I believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, I do not believe that by that faith alone I am guaranteed a place in Heaven.

While I believe that works are called for by Christ and the Apostles in the Bible, I do not believe that by my works I am guaranteed a place in Heaven.

I HOPE and I PRAY, that at the end of my life on this earth, I am deemed worthy of invitation to Heaven.

Why? Because, even with my faith, and my works, I am still a sinner. Only God knows my final destination. That is the last great adventure of this life on earth, finding out where we’re going next.

All through the Gospels, Christ alludes to the difficulty in obtaining eternal salvation…(camels through needle eyes, narrow doors, etc) Too many Protestants, especially the non-denominational ones want to push the “Easy Button”. ("I believe and I read the Bible, so I’m good-to-go)

I believe in the authority of God. I believe in the authority of Christ. I believe in the authority of the Church founded by Christ.

They just don’t get it, or refuse to. Virtually every Christian denomination (especially the non-denominationals) is based on defiance of authority.

They are their own authority, which I find to be mortally arrogant.

**You say "you hope **you will be deemed worthy to make it to heaven, well I have new for you. You will never be worthy to go to heaven, nor will I. It is because of christ alone. You my friend is the one who does not get it.

Huh? That IS my position…that I hope and pray the I will be deemed worthy, by and through the grace of the One Above, as opposed to those who strut around with their feathers up, proclaiming that they’re “in”…

“Last will be First, and First will be Last”

Colossians 1:12: giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light.

Titus 3:7: so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life. This saying is trustworthy.

I think Uncle Norbert does get it, abcd.

Ok, have it your way
only at Burger King, abcd. Not when it comes to God. In Him, I do my best to have it His way, the way He left to us through the Church He built for us, of which He is the foundation and cornerstone, on the Rock of Peter

How can these five things be together, if they’re all ALONE?
If it were not so sad it would be humorous wouldn’t it?
This is the very artifact of Protestantism. By opening scripture up to private interpretation we get a legion of unordered short cook-book rules that are each apparently true but when taken together completely disordered from a rational self-consistent theological framework.

What is profoundly sad to me is that these are all good people who “want” to believe and do good by God yet are so far from the mark of truth that they can do no good for themselves nor others.

Our challenge is to see if we can save some of these from themselves and from their false teachings and to pray for those we can’t reach in time.

Col 1:12 does not say “fit” in the KJV.

If you will look up and study the word “HOPE” used here, it does mean the same thing as we usualy use that word. It is a sure hope not a maybe hope.

There are various translations of the Bible. I don’t use the KJV. That book itself has 7 missing books from the original. I also find the KJV inaccurate and I find the Douay Rheims Bible which is older more accurate.

12 Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light. Col 1:12 Douay Rheims

12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. Col 1:12 RSV Bible

not owning a kjv of the Bible, I can tell you that different proper translations use worthy.

Hope is hope, abcd. We too use the word hope in an assured sense, because we trust in the Grace that gives us the faith that is evidenced by our good works which leads, we hope and trust, to our Salvation.

you’re still getting replies because you are still posting.

Hmm- well, there is no original, at least no one has found it…

The seven books were added by the RCC to back up some of their doctrine… even though some scriptures in it contrdicted the other books…

Im not supposed to be getting replies since I unsubscrbed. Guess i will just have to not reply and it will die out eventually.

I agree with what the man says. Even though I fully acknowledge God and Jesus and trust in their words I too know that Jesus was not kidding when He said many will try to enter by the narrow gate but few will enter. It takes MORE than just believing it takes COMMITTMENT of one’s life to living that belief. And this is where Uncle and I share a common hope and a compelling FEAR of God and concern that we may not be judged worthy since we know that we sin in defiance to our believed love of Jesus. Our body’s and mind’s do what we do not want to do because the fallen flesh as a consequence of our forefather’s original sin in Eden holds a lingering attraction to sin.

Virtually 100% of all of God’s saints, if you read their writings have a FEAR of God. As holy and pious as these men and women tried to be they knew that their eternal salvation was wholly dependent on God’s mercy as well as God’s justice. St. Francis on his death bed confessed that he was not sure he would be judged worthy. If men such as He had this kind of fear - we should learn by it. The Catholic Church has never taught in terms of numbers saved because only God knows that for sure. But scripture certainly indicates that compared to the many who try to enter heaven few do. That should be sobering to all of us.

If you think all your sins are covered up by simply believing “Jesus saves” are urge you to pray and study the scripture on this or listen to what others here say. We firmly believe that heaven is so profoundly holy that even a trace of a memory of sin that was forgive but committed way back in our youth is enough to keep us out of heaven. We believe that Jesus’ blood does wash away the sin but it does not remove the payment of debt owed for that sin arising from God’s justice nor the consequence for that sin to our soul. We have to “heal” up after forgiven in the same way that a person needs to grow new tissue after the doctor removes a festering tumor.

My friend, we have a long road ahead of us to share with you our faith and our firm conviction of what is required to enter heaven and escape hell is much more than a spoken “I believe”. Trust me please - there is much much more. No one “falls into heaven” by accident and heaven can not be purchased or earned by anything we ourselves can do. It is only by God’s grace and our daily struggle to stay in that grace that any of us has a chance.

We are told to trust in Jesus - and that we must. But we also must cooperate with Jesus and do every single thing He commanded us to do.

James

you might want to follow your own advice, abcd, and look up the facts behind your second paragraph: this is a matter of historical record which is quite easy to find on the internet. Don’t be afraid of the Truth, abcd. It will lead you to Him through His Church.

the thread won’t ever eventually die out–someone else who has been fed and led astray by the same traditions of men will come along and pick up your thread.
