Just curious, What exactly triggered your interest in Catholicism in the first place, and what was the first resource you came across and used?

Dianna:
I was trying to get my prayer life to a better place. I had heard Catholic prayers before but didn’t pay much attention. Thought I would see what they were and downloaded a Catholic prayers app.
Yet you found Catholic Answers 🙂

This shows God finds and works with people where they are. And you listened and acted on it . What a great story.

I hope you have a parish that isn’t too far away from where you live and you can talk with the pastor.
I first found on YouTube and started watching many videos, and am still watching. I’m looking forward to later watching a documentary I found this morning but then had to go to work on Pope Francis. I know really nothing about him.

I don’t think I had a choice but to listen. Desire to keep digging and keep unraveling it all is too strong. It seems like once I get the answer to once question about the church, something else is put in front of me to answer the next or to teach me something else.

I’m really looking forward to stepping into a church and getting the full experince. I know things will be a lot different than what I’m use to but I had just told some people the other month that I really felt God was calling me out of my comfort zone…I had no idea it was this far out!!!

I was at work and saw you posted that. I liked them but didn’t have time to dig into everything and had planned on doing that once I got home and on my computer. I got really excited when I saw the post.

One of the Journey Home episodes on YouTube is entitled something like 10 Scripture Verses I Never Saw As Protestant. It is really good. Shows you how God gives us “new eyes” to see what was in front of us all the time.

There’s a lot of materials to dig through in our 2000 yr old history

Even cradle can’t possibly comprehend the Church’s entire treasury in a lifetime. Don’t overwhelm yourself. The purpose of RCIA is to help you delve into what’s really essential. And there are actually very few essentials. Many are contained in the Creed, and you can spend time learning about each phrase. Most important is to pray to the Holy Spirit for enlightenment and guidance.

Oh yes and the essentials that I have for this moment I’m seeing answers for. There were really only a few things that really bothered me with how I thought beliefs were…Mary, purgatory for example. A lot of things as I discover are just making sense and nothing I had any misgivings about because of false information.

Your story sounds so similar to mine!
Keep praying! Read all you can about it. I love Scott Hahn (The Lamb’s Supper is my favorite), Fr Larry Richards (You can get a free CD of his talk the mass explained) Fr Mike Schmidt (there might be a z in there somewhere)
Keep reading your bible (I love reading the daily readings)…there’s so much I never noticed before as a protestant, but makes so much more sense in light of Catholic teaching.
You can attend Mass without receiving the Eucharist, but you’re still worshipping .
When you get moved go talk to the priest. Look into RCIA and be ok with going through the process (in the beginning I was a little irritated about having to go through it. I felt I’ve known Jesus my whole life, why do I need “class”?!) believe me, it is a WONDERFUL process!
Good luck with everything, and I will be praying for your journey!

It is interesting thinking about sitting through classes. I know the Bible, I know Jesus…but I know it’s so I know the Church and understanding the teachings and Traditions. The why this and that is done. The ins and outs. For me being someone who loves research, taking notes, studying and learning, the idea of classes is right up my alley lol

I have been reading the daily readings. Looking forward to my Bible showing up tobread them from there and not just online.

I have watched a few videos of the mass explained and I’m sure I’ll watch more.

The church that I’m going to talk to someone at once the move is done, live streams mass for those who are too sick to attend. The Priest was very clear it is not a substitute. That if you are well, stop watching and get there. I watched last week and will watch tomorrow.

Thank you for the prayers. I really appreciate it.

Maybe once the move is done. Trying to spend the least amount of money as possible right now. Moving is crazy expensive.

Mother Mary had 15 promises through Saint Dominic for those who pray the rosary.

Hi Dianna, I am in a similar position to you (only I live in the UK). I have been a Baptist for 20+ years but have been attending Catholic Mass since September 2017 with my husband (former Protestant/baptist) and my two youngest children. I am in my late 40s. We kind of felt ‘called’ to the Catholic Church, though we have no idea why. We were all unhappy at the Baptist church but stayed because they had a good youth ministry for our three children. I thought I knew everything about faith and The Bible, but now realize I have a lot to learn. I was also led to believe all sorts of crazy things that Catholics allegedly do! I am slowly unraveling the real truth and will be doing a RCIA course starting September. I am absolutely certain that we are both doing what God really wants. Much love to you. Rebecca.

That is terrific that you and family are going into the Church together. That’s so wonderful!!!
When we start seeing the truth and pushing away what we think was truth, it is amazing as to what comes out, what is really there. Each day I’m learning something new, so many light bulb moments and really just great sense of peace. This is scary and exciting. Maybe wouldn’t be as scary if my husband was with me on this, but hopefully one day.

Welcome! So happy that you found the Catholic faith! The litany of the Saints gives me such peace and ever since I ask for Mary’ graces that Jesus gave her for each one of us, my mind stays positive. That is wonderful that you are praying the Rosary. There is a class that adults coming into the faith attend so they know the beauty of the faith and what the Eucharist is.
For me, it was leading about the truth of the the Eucharist, and that it is NOT a symbol, but Christ himself. He shares His body with us and in turn we slowly take on His kind merciful spirit.
