Protestant verses Catholic Evangelization Question

So many have said that the best way to evangelize is to live a life of charity in the faith, or in a word, set an example for others to want to follow. I certainly would agree with that, but that is really what we are called to do anyway. That is something every catholic sould be doing regardless of evangelization.

I believe that evangelization has three parts: in prayer, in word, and in action.

Prayer - everyday to pray for someone to come back to Jesus or to receive Jesus in faith and love for the first time. The minium a catholic should do is to lay their eyes on just one person and start to pray for them every day. It could be one of your own children, but it also could be someone you met casually, or your neighbor. At least one person to pray for everyday that Jesus and Mary will bring them home. This dosen’t mean we couldn’t do more, but at least one everyday. Read the last paragraph of St. James letter. He seems to be saying that if anyone is responsible for the salvation of another, they have gone a long way to garanteeing their own. At least one. Is that so much to ask? Suppose the one billion catholics did that each day? Mother Teresa is noted for saying “it starts with one person”.

Word - this is the area that has to be done within the talent, ability, and knowledge, we have so far gained. Reading good catholic books will prepare a person. If someone should ask a question, we should be able to know where to find the answer to get back to them. Or just simple refer a person to someone else who knows more about the subject.

Action - there are lots of ways to do this, understanding and listening are just two. Another way is to pass out Our Lady’s miraculous medal, or the green scapular. It was her idea, not mine, to pass these out to people. She wants everyone to have one. She promised GREAT and ABUNDANT graces to those who wore it. I have heard a number of great stories of people passing them out. If purchased in a hundred, they are only $.15 apiece plus shipping. Give them to catholics and non catholics alike. Read up on these so that when you pass them out you can give them a little run down of how much it could mean to them. This is one easy way to evangelize and if some refuse, just remember they walked away from Jesus as well. This is Mary’s way of bringing them to her son. And remember to say a dozen prayers total for those you gave them too each day to remind Mary to give them her son’s blessings. (And in addition, you will notice yourself changing ever so slowy.)

Just a thought.

“Ave Maria gratia plena Dominus tecum, benedicta tu in mulieribus.”
