I would say it is a broad array of movement s .
Sure.
And I find that the distinction between “protestant” and “evangelical” is less significant than that.
I may be wrong.
Are we talking about evangelische or evangelikal? 🤣
lol. Lutherans attach Evangelical to Catholic.
Evangelical Catholic. I suspect American evangelicals might feel different.

Anglo-American Evangelicalism has more in common with what Lutherans would call Pietism. I’m not sure if Pietism is still a thing in modern Lutheranism. But for those who don’t know it was big on emphasizing a “religion of the heart” over what might be described as “dead orthodoxy” (in other words reducing Christianity to mental assent to propositional truth).

Correct, and while it isn’t active, per se, it’s influence is still noticeable in some areas.

Here is a very good blog about Lutheran Pietism (though the phrase sounds like an oxymoron to me).

When I came to this board I quickly learned to use the term American Evangelical to describe non-mainline (Episcopal, Lutheran) protestant churches/denominations that share a particular American church culture.

Informative article, though I would dispute some of its characterization. The author seems to equate “decision” theology with evangelical soteriology. In my view, that is a simplification of what evangelicals typically believe.

Maybe. I was actually looking at it from the other viewpoint, orthodox Lutheranism.
