What will happen to protestants who do not believe confession to a priest is necessary but confess their sins regularily to God?

Well, that is between the individual and God. Only God truly knows all the circumstances relating to any particular situation in a person’s life.

I get a bit surprised with posts like this. I was a Protestant, and I never gave a moments notice to thinking about what the Catholic Church had to say about a dang thing. The only times I pretended to care was to start an argument with one about how wrong they were about their beliefs.

Probably they will receive the same mercy that God bestowed on the patriarchs and His people of old prior to Jesus instituting the sacrament of reconciliation. These simply confessed to God in their heart and lived justly. Can we doubt their salvation?

The Israelites had a ritual sacrifice of an animal that remitted sin and restored them to God, but what about those before Moses?
