Protestants admit that the RCC is the rock of morality

I am a Protestant and I have to say beyond a shadow of a doubt that the RCC has done a far better job of upholding sound morals than anyone else in recent history. It is great to see that the RCC is unwavering in its stance against the horrific actions of this day and age with partial birth abortion which wreaks of satan himself and euthenasia which seems to be ok with so many in this secular time. My hat is off to you!

I have to say that, in part, I agree with you. But something still bothers me…

Instead of severely punishing the priests that have abused parishiners they have chosen to either transfer them and quietly settle out of court to those they have wronged or apologize for the behavior but not do anything. These are children that have been abused… a slap on the wrist is a slap to that child.

I believe that ANY preacher, priest, or ANYONE for that matter should be punished SEVERELY for creating that childhood for someone…

But that is just my opinion. All I can say is that it is just a great thing that I am not God… 😦

and why are you in the non-Christian thread if you are Protestant?😉

and Ok I didnt know RCC was Roman Catholic church I thought it might have meant Republicans…I was like ooooooookay we need a little chat.

While they may get off easily here on the Earth, remember the harsh words our Lord has for those who lead children astray:

And whoever receives one child such as this in my name receives me. “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

These priests will have much to answer for at their death, so let us pray for the priests as well as the children.

Why do you believe that ANY preacher, or priest …should be punished SEVERELY? Is it because your Catholic God says in New American Bible:

Malachi 2

1 And now, O priests, this commandment is for you: If you do not listen,
2 And if you do not lay it to heart, to give glory to my name, says the LORD of hosts, I will send a curse upon you and of your blessing I will make a curse. Yes, I have already cursed it, because you do not lay it to heart.
3 Lo, I will deprive you of the shoulder and I will strew dung in your faces, The dung of your feasts, and you will be carried off with it.

Or if you are a Protestant then your Protestant God says in The Message Bible:

I am not saying that God won’t punish these men… but I AM saying that the catholic church (and any church out there) who are supposed to be representing Christ here on earth until His return, should make them out to be examples. To say that christians don’t stand for that kind of representation. Not kill them, mind you, but the way it has been handled on either side is atrocious.

I am protestant by the way… 🙂

Now according to RSV and many other Protestant Bibles your God is not any more in three forms/triune because the kingpin of your previous “Triune God” is removed from your present Bibles.

But still your priests will be severly condemned/mocked/insulted by your One God. despite Him being ONE and ONLY, as your King James Bible says:

Malachi 2 (King James Version)

1 And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you.

2 If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the LORD of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart.

yeah…this is your King James Protestant Bible and not Catholic or Mormon Book.

Please don’t lump every protestant together. My God is the Triune God (the Trinity). Father - Son - Holy Spirit. Three yet one. It is how I was baptized and how I believe.

Just wanted to clear that up…

There are Protestans who are ignorant of their own churches’ new, recent and updated teachings about the nature of their new God. You, unfortunately, seems one among them as you are evidently not really aware of how many forms of your present updated God has.

It is better that you atleast read REVISED STANDARD VERSION of your Bible…yes “Revised” version…thats the name of your Bible because it has been revised by chopping/removing/taking out many verses as interpolations. As such the kingpin of triune nature your previous “God” (i.e., 1John 5:7) is removed from your Protestant Bibles. By the way it is also removed from the Catholics’ New American Bible, though Catholics’ Douay Rheims Bible still keep i, which is really really funny.

So if you see a Catholic who does not believe in Trinity then don’t blame him of being ignorant because he may be following/reading The New American Catholic Bible. And if you find a certain Catholic who still believe in Trinity…then too don’t blame either because this particular Catholic may be just following his another Bible (Douay Rheims Bible)

But you as a Protestant cannot have both views or previously held view. Why ? because your are afterall a protestent…which means you protest the views held by previous denomination (Catholic).

I am not sure where you get your info but I have not been to a protestant church yet that tought against the Trinity. So please stop spreading lies. Your anti-protestantism is showing. Badly. And since I am expected (and want) to respect the catholic church I would ask you to do the same. Just because I am protestant (of which I detest the word) I, as I have explained many times, do NOT protest the catholic church. It may not be the path God has me on but I in no way think it is evil or intrinsically wrong. It is an outdated term. I prefer non-catholic christian.

So please, until you know my heart stop judging my beliefs of which you have no authority or idea about. Stop the lies man…😦

As a Catholic, I agree with you. In fact, I believe that the victims deserve quite a lot in the way of restitution. The victims deserve personal apologies along with money from court settlements.

I believe the only way to permanently get rid of the “bad fruits” in the Church is to return to a strict orthodoxy with severe punishments for rule breakers. A leaner meaner church.

I would love to see the protestants come down severely on fornication, including masturbation, porn, divorce, artificial contraception. All these things are the fertilizer for the fruit of abortion. See Humanae Vitae.

Severely punishing indeed, just like the punishment Jesus invited onlookers to administer to the woman taken in adultery.

Just like the punishment God administered to the Pharisee and the person that begged “Lord have mercy on me a sinner .”

I’ve said what you just said in your last statment, " it’s good job we don’t judge mankind, otherwise who would be saved, I’m glad God does the judging, we judge everyday, while God waits until Judgement day.
 
We are allowed to judge actions. Just not souls.

I endorse serious punishment for these Priests. Not out of revenge or spite - but anyone who so severly abuses and devalues the Holy Priesthood can’t just be given a cookie and moved to another parish.

A Priest’s position is above that of any other human being on earth, his dignity is far greater, but this is not a case for being lenient but a case for the punishment being proportionate to the crime.
