Severely punishing indeed, just like the punishment Jesus invited onlookers to administer to the woman taken in adultery.

Just like the punishment God administered to the Pharisee and the person that begged “Lord have mercy on me a sinner .”
I don’t know about you but I am guessing you have never suffered this kind of thing. Come back to me when you have. Though mine wasn’t a priest or a preacher it hurts just the same. These ‘men’ are pedophiles and should be removed from duty and society. In a lot of cases this has not happened and it sickens me.
Some want justice, in spite of the fact that " revenge is mine saith the Lord "
It has nothing to do with revenge. It has to do with justice. These men deserve to pay for what they have stolen from these children. CHILDREN. Kids who couldn’t defend themselves.
Unless your blind you will see there are a lot of non-catholic abusers.
I think I have made it quite clear that I speak of both protestant and catholic ministers. I have made it a point to say priests AND PREACHERS.
I’ve said what you just said in your last statment, " it’s good job we don’t judge mankind, otherwise who would be saved, I’m glad God does the judging, we judge everyday, while God waits until Judgement day.
They deserve the punishment for their actions NOW. God will take care of them but there is a reason we have our government and God says to obey that government. To me, a church that covers up the sins of those in power only looks weak and not in good moral standing.🤷

I have to say that, in part, I agree with you. But something still bothers me…

Instead of severely punishing the priests that have abused parishiners they have chosen to either transfer them and quietly settle out of court to those they have wronged or apologize for the behavior but not do anything. These are children that have been abused… a slap on the wrist is a slap to that child.

I believe that ANY preacher, priest, or ANYONE for that matter should be punished SEVERELY for creating that childhood for someone…
How about having the diocese to suffer the financial costs of the sins of a priests who molested children. This lead to many closures of parishes where are necessary for educating children and providing spiritual services of the Catholic Community.

I do believe that those priest who molested will have to be pay for their crimes. They should be reported to law enforcement to pay their dues.

I also believe that mercy is often lacking when someone commits an offense as grave as molestation. People tend to condemn the criminal rather than forgive them for what they do.

Did not Pope John Paul II forgave the man who assasinated him? Indeed, you find these Catholics who sue get money from the parishes and lead many of them into bankrupcy.

Now tell me? Who then is truly in the right morally, SinginBeauty?

Jesus put it best. “Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy.”

No but it was tried on me at the age of 15, I hastily went back to where my 13 year old brother was working with the attempted molesters brother and took him home with me.

No I didn’t report it, I should have, like I say, he put his hand on my leg and…but when I got to my journeys end I ran back to the other farm like I said and took my brother home.

Yes they should be removed, and face the law, but still Jesus demands forgiveness hard as it is to do.

I think wasn’t it ? Pope JP2 said that there can be no place in the Priesthood for them.
They deserve the punishment for their actions NOW.
Yes they do, they should be removed if found guilty and face the full rigour of the law, do you think they deserve eternal fire or would you forgive them ?
We are allowed to judge actions. Just not souls.

I endorse serious punishment for these Priests. Not out of revenge or spite - but anyone who so severly abuses and devalues the Holy Priesthood can’t just be given a cookie and moved to another parish.

A Priest’s position is above that of any other human being on earth, his dignity is far greater, but this is not a case for being lenient but a case for the punishment being proportionate to the crime.

True, yes it’s was/is a bad mistake to move them around, I sincerely hope this practice has stopped, it’s hard enough being a Catholic without us having to bear the burden of those in positions of Authority who should know better.

I mean do those Priests have any idea or do they care about the burden they have placed on the laity’s shoulders and their fellow faithful Priests ?

True. But even if they are forgiven and confess the sin it doesn’t mean that they can not be punished for such a heinous crime.

Do they deserve Hell? Only God can decide this but I do believe they deserve punishment here on earth.

Nope it doesn’t. In the Catholic Church, a sin maybe forgiven but all temp punishment due to sin either in the physical world or the next, they will have to take an account for.

Their sins are forgiven indeed, but the punishment remains. Recall the story of King David. He committed adultery and was forgiven by God, yet God punished him by killing the infant born of Bathsheba.

Likewise, priests who commit such acts will pay the price of their immoral acts.
Do they deserve Hell? Only God can decide this but I do believe they deserve punishment here on earth.
Only God can decide that. God also know when a man is truly sorry for his sin, and if a molester confesses with sincere heart, and is forgiven and dies the next day of an accident, he can go to heaven.

Unrepentent sinners will not gain heaven. They will go to hell.

I am a Protestant and I have to say beyond a shadow of a doubt that the RCC has done a far better job of upholding sound morals than anyone else in recent history. It is great to see that the RCC is unwavering in its stance against the horrific actions of this day and age with partial birth abortion which wreaks of satan himself and euthenasia which seems to be ok with so many in this secular time. My hat is off to you!

That’s very kind of you…but, if the CC has any strength at all, it has it only through Christ. He, never we human beings, is the Strong God Who strengthens Christians; of ourselves, we have no strength at all.

The worst thing any of us can do is to put our hopes n the weakness of man, because man is frail, poor, weak, ignorant & blind; he is like grass - here today, gone tomorrow. IOW, he is completely unlike God - He can be trusted 😃

Does this include child molesting priests and the Roman Catholic church’s complicity?

Can one say like the mormons do: The church is perfect but the people aren’t? I think that we all need to embrace human imperfection in the coverup. People are not perfect, unfortunately…😦

I must say that the catholic church is a rock of morality. It embraces old fashioned concepts such no to fornification, adultery, masturbation, porn etc. Also, it does stress the idea that humans can change their evil behavior by working toward holiness and sainthood. And this is a fine moral code also. Many protestants have this impression that humans can not change from their sinful behaviors.
