Since I came into this thread believing, in good faith, that it was a discussion about alcohol, I will continue to address the alcohol issue and will not derail the thread by discussing modesty or “healthy food” in this thread.

I’ve never claimed that alcohol was a “special dimension of evil or forbidden”. I’ve never even said that it is evil or forbidden at all, as I do not believe that.

All I said is that, in our church, we choose not to have alcohol at our functions for the reasons stated in my first post.
That is your right to do so. But it is our right to have Alcohol at our functions, and have wine at our Eucharist as Christ told is to.

I don’t believe it is right to have juice at communion either.🤷

When I was young (like 10 years old) and pentecostal the pastor preached alcohol is a sin. My mom, whom is still pentecostal says that is hogwash. That same pastor invited us for dinner and my mom brought over a bottle of rum and he happily drank away. That happened with other pastors who said no alcohol as as well.
Same experience for me as well. I know one who preached to everyone and everything about the evils of this that and the other thing, even when asked to be silent… was the biggest drunk and beat his wife now late wife as well. A few others were similar but not as extreme.
