I’m seriously considering becoming a part of the Catholic Church. My beliefs are becoming more and more synonymous with them, and I believe history bears their claims.
But I don’t necessarily want to become Catholic at this point in my life! I’m a traditional Anglican and I love my Church, although it is consumed in scandal.
Anyway, could all Protestants and Anglicans who see this give me their best reasons why I should not become Catholic or that I am wrong?
Specifically, wrong on:
Papal Authority
Unicity and Catholicity of the Church
Episcopal Authority
Eucharist
Marian doctrines
Please, Protestants and fellow Anglicans, I want to hear your best reasons. I’m not going to argue, just take into consideration your points of view.
Perhaps I am wrong.
+++ If we follow the Apostle’s Doctrine then we do not believe in anything revealed after the Apostle’s ended their writings.By the way none of the Apostle’s were Catholic; and the church is built upon the Rock which is Christ and not a pebble which is Peter. Look it up in the WE Vine’s Dictionary of Hebrew and Greek.
NO POPE who says he is infaliable in interpreting and adding to Gods inspired word.
Do you believe it is OK to add to God inspired word to us?
RCC 'tradition" adds its on word as to what God is saying to us. This changes His word.
The Rosary was not something that Mary, the mother of Jesus, ever knew about or prayed upon. She was Jewish and this was not given to the church during her time. It came about almost a thousand years after she had died. Invented by Peter the Hermit in 1090 AD. Brought to the church by St. Dominic in 1214 and aapproved by Pope Innocent lll. The church developed it during the time that Catholic were leaving the church…it was and is a gimmick to bring people back to the church. Again if this was know by the Apostle’s they would have been praying it and telling us about it in their writings.
Do you look at the picture of Mary and see a ‘white’ female? Actually she was dark skinned since she came from the tribe of Judah of the seed of David and David;s great grandmother Ruth was a dark skinned woman, she was a Moabite.
Do you, as the RCC does, believe Mary is still alive?
Do you believe it OK as the RCC does to pray to Mary?
Who do you believe is the ‘real’ intercessor of our prayer and it is not Mary!
Who do you associate with being the Throne of Grace? Yes. God. And God alone–a Hebrew word:“thrones” a throne, a seat of authority is used of the throne of God; Heb. 4:16, “the throne of grace"i.e.:from which grace proceeds. The RCC is giving this title to Mary!
No one in scripture went to confession with a mortal man/priest…
Do you believe that when Christ died the curtain was torn to the throne room and gave us access to petiton our prayers staight to God (interceeded by Jesus Christ who is our advocate seated at the right hand of God)?
The Apostle’s never mention a place called Puratory or Limbo…althought they are in the Aprocryphol writings —the added traditions of the RCC.
Do you believe in kissing a crucifix? RCC do when they pray their rosary…is this Idol worship to pray on a pagan chain of beads and give more prayers to Mary than to Jesus…or to be praying through her…
Do you believe in buying indulgences…their way of still trying to atone for their sins…they do not accept that Christ died on the cross and it covered ALL of our sins…past, present, and furture…so that being said, do you believe you have to do good works to gain your entry into heaven? They do. yes, we do good works but that is because we are to love unconditonally and help our neighbor…again, loving them as ourselves. Eph. 2:8-9 We’re not saved by our works(we cannot ‘earn’ our salvation, 1 Corn. 6:8 and 1 Corn. 7:23 says we were 'bought with a price --purchased–with a preciousness and paid for, made His own”–'For it is by free grace (unmerited favor) that you are saved…it is the gift of God. Not because of works (not fulfillment of the laws demands), least any man should boast." GRACE + NOTHING
