I have a question. I have a Baptist friend. She has come to believe in the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist along with all the other Catholic doctrine, she has a great love for Mary and prays the Rosary even. She believe Jesus wants her to remain a Baptist for now to lead her fellow Baptists to the complete truth. But, she also believes that she is receiving the Eucharist in her Baptist Church because she believes in the Real Presence. Can someone point me to an article to give her explaining why and how a Priest is the ONLY one who hast he power to consecrate the bread and the wine and turn it into the Body and BLood and also something about the Mass which is the perpetual Sacrifice and even if a Priest changes certain words of the consecration then the transformation of the bread and wine would not become the Body and BLodd of Christ. Something to explain this. I know the Orthodox have valid Sacraments also because they kept the apostolic succession.

Thanks and God BLess,
Kailey

The CCC refers to “Prebyterorum Ordinis” to describe the role of the Priest in the Eucharist, but you probably know that. The problem is, the Church doesn’t explain much about what others can’t do, it’s not relevant. I would probably explain that the Baptists are not the Church of Jesus, as you can find the facts related to their schism with the Catholic Church. Jesus gave the sacraments to the Apostles which were passed on through Apostolic succession and ordination, so since the Baptists are not the Church of Jesus there is no evidence anywhere that says they have the ability to consecrate.

i think what she is doing while she is still in baptist is to show to other baptist on what she believe in to. But it is much better for her to be converted to catholic church while teaching other baptist on what she believe in. Believeing on the real prescence of the Eucharist is a Catholic faith and that is good if she believe in the real prescence of the eucharist consecrated by a catholic minister and not by a protestant pastor.
