I don’t know about the other protestants on this site but I am THOROUGHLY sick of having my beliefs labeled as being led by Satan or the Evil One… *sigh…

I DO NOT FOLLOW SATAN NOR DOES HE HAVE A HOLD ON ANYTHING I BELIEVE… GOD IS MY ROCK, MY SOUL, AND MY LOVE. ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING I DO AND BELIEVE IS FOR HIM!

*pant pant…

Did I make that clear enough? Or should I remind you how hurt you feel and frustrated you get when a protestant comes in and tells you that you worship the dead and your pope is the anti-christ?

I vote both. Most if not all are trying their best to follow God as they understand. However this disruption in the unity of the Church was brought about by Satan.

First of all, the official Catholic Church does not believe Protestant follow Satan. They revere the Bible very well.

Let me quote the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
Wounds to unity
817 In fact, "in this one and only Church of God from its very beginnings there arose certain rifts, which the Apostle strongly censures as damnable. But in subsequent centuries much more serious dissensions appeared and large communities became separated from full communion with the Catholic Church - for which, often enough, men of both sides were to blame."269 The ruptures that wound the unity of Christ’s Body - here we must distinguish heresy, apostasy, and schism270 - do not occur without human sin:
Where there are sins, there are also divisions, schisms, heresies, and disputes. Where there is virtue, however, there also are harmony and unity, from which arise the one heart and one soul of all believers.271
818 "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers . . . . All who have been justified by faith in Baptism are incorporated into Christ; they therefore have a right to be called Christians, and with good reason are accepted as brothers in the Lord by the children of the Catholic Church."272

Satan may have indirectly cause the division in both sides since it pleases him to see the Body of Christ wounded. Yet the actions caused by these divisions is man-made.

Oh sure, that’s exactly what we’d expect one of Satan’s Minions to say

Just kidding 😃

:highprayer: :highprayer: But it can’t hurt to burn a little incense just in case:highprayer: :highprayer:

I’m sorry you are so upset and that you feel attacked here, that is not what this ite is about. I’m curious though and I ask this honestly and with humility, has anyone here told you clearly that you are being led by satan or is it the challenging of your beliefs that is upsetting you? If the latter, you should expect that to happen at a Catholic website because the Catholic Church does not believe it’s another denomination nor does it seek to blend in with all the other churches. We believe it’s the Church Jesus Christ founded and it’s our obligation to defend her.

Now, on the other hand, no one has the right to judge you and where you stand with God, absolelutely not, that kind of judgement is reserved only for God and God alone agreed? Understand as well, Catholics here are ALWAYS on the defensive as folks actively seek this sight out to* jam* Protestent or non-christian beliefs down our throats and very few who come here are honest about their intentions which is frustrating.

I think you should evaluate what you would like to gain from being here, what led you here and what your motives are. Are they to learn and sincerely dialouge to come to a better understanding of beliefs that hold water and beliefs that don’t, are you interested in evangelizing or are you are you simply desiring fellowship? Again, I’m sorry you are so upset and I hope things get better.

There are Catholics here who have accused “Protestants of following Satan” but their views does not reflect the views of the Church Herself.

Fr. Corapi admire Protestant love for the Word of God in the Bible and that Catholic should follow.

I try not to use Satan in the many threads I covered. It does us no service of understanding on another, but adds conflict. Conflict is un-Christian.

Since you are offended, I apologize in behalf for those who offend you.

Satan works on me every day. In my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and what I have failed to do.

If one is doing his (or her) best to avoid sin, and loves others as God loves them, there should be no problems.

Name Witheld:
After all this debate, things come down to a few simple points. Protestants are blown to and fro by the winds of doctrine and above all, personal interpretation and personal opinion. They will never agree because they are led astray by the Evil One to their destruction. They are called protestants because they have always rebelled(protested) against the authority of the Church that Christ Himself instituted. One can only commend them to the mercy of God and hope that their eyes will be opened. Until then, they wander aimlessly, hoping that the interpretation that they have arrived at will be correct. Pray for their ignorance.🤷
I witheld the name because this is not the only time I have seen this… But I must say it sparked the reaction…

Thank you everyone who have answered… 🙂

Your Welcome.
😃

I see Jesus Christ in everyone, your charity shows. So I tried my best to do be humble and meek towards others. I must admit I have not posted charitable post in the past. Only now, I try to be more charitable because a Christian does not offend. He comforts and counsel others.

Individual Protestants certainly love God and believe in Him. Absolutely true. We do too.

Certainly there were things about the Catholic Church’s members and some of their actions in the 16th century which had turned to evil. Not the Church’s teachings. Those who ignored the teachings, those who listened to Satan.

But those who fought against the evil could themselves be corrupted by evil. This was indeed the case with the “reformers”; praiseworthy as their intentions may have been to start, there came a point with each major reformer, and later to each individual who chose to align with a reformer, where they themselves succumbed to evil. It starts out small, “It is not right to do this practice” said Luther (and he was right. If he had stopped right there, used his voice in line with the authentic Church teaching which he in fact supported–because the Church teaching was NOT to ‘sell indulgences’ but some people chose to disregard that teaching–we would probably be celebrating the feast of St. Martin Luther, as we celebrate the feast of St. Francis, who likewise faced instances where ‘people’ in the Church had gone against Catholic teachings, but St. Francis not only stayed in the Catholic Church, by his example he brought the wrongdoers back into the church as well. )

But (as we often do), Martin Luther looked for ways to justify himself. This is where he made his biggest error–because in following Christ, we should never try to justify ourselves, but only to follow Christ. He is our justification. The minute we start to justify ourselves, we have jettisoned Christ and made ourselves and ‘our’ judgment what is important. This is what Martin Luther, and also Calvin, Knox, Henry VIII, Archbishop Cramer, the Wesleys, etc. began to do.

Add into the mix anticlericalism --a not unexpected byproduct of seeing ‘clerics’ who acted less than holy, comparing them to (of course) oneself whom one could see as being first ‘more’ and then finally A LOT MORE HOLY than these so called ‘godly’ men. . .add in nationalism, a desire to govern England, or Scotland, or the Low Countries rather than ‘submit’ to “Rome”; add in greed (Church property was a rich prize. Not because the Church was itself all that greedy, but after 1500 years there were lots and lots of churches, and land–any land–was beginning to be at a premium (why else such a push for “new land” in the “new world”. . .don’t get me started on enclosures etc.), add in as well ‘itching ears’, the individualism that took a pride in being ‘as good as the next man’ rather than the humility of the more ‘old fashioned’ Catholic, add in more literacy, opportunities not just for printing a Bible but for printing one’s Bible, and other broadsides or treatises. . .

The splintering was multifactorial, and while many things were good (literacy is good, true reform is good, love of country is good), any and all could be twisted (and were) by Satan. And Catholics were (and are) not immune to Satan either (don’t get me started on ‘cafeteria’ Catholics, LOL).

But the actual teachings of the Catholic Church --those are not of Satan. And (depending on the Protestant Church) --some of those teachings can be, and have been, corrupted. And I know it’s hard for you with perhaps a 400 year history (and with examples of many good, true, and noble people you have known, or heard of, or read about) to think that anything at all in your church may have been at one time, or now, influenced by Satan. He tries to influence our Church too–and he has come close (with the Arian heresy) and through the years to weaken many members and cause them to fall. Again, Catholics are not immune to Satan’s influence and as I said, there are some even in the Church who have misread and misrepresented the ACTUAL Catholic teachings just as much as Luther may have misunderstood ‘faith’ and Calvin ‘double predestination’.

I know that if you came out and flat out said that Satan was the cause of our calling Mary a saint that I would not believe you. And some Protestants do believe this. Catholics can’t just jettison the beliefs Protestants object to in order to ‘come under the umbrella’; Protestants object to jettisoning beliefs that Catholics object to. If the only question were belief then it would be easy to say, “majority rule”–but it isn’t. One group has to be right and the other wrong.

Now you may be a Protestant whose belief is closer to actual Catholic teaching, and whose own actions are more in line with that teaching, than I, as a Catholic, might be. (Naming no names, but we know there are as many self-identified Catholics who, when asked about church teaching, disagree with just about every one of them yet insist they are 'Catholic).

We are not saying that because you are Protestant you are evil, anymore than you would say that because we are Catholic we are evil.

… Most if not all are trying … this disruption in the unity of the Church was brought about by Satan.
I said unsure, but I have to go along with Trelow. God did not cause the split. Christ prayed that His Church would always be one. Much of Protestant teaching is in error.

So how do you plan to use this thread to bring Unity? All I see is pushing disunity. Accusing people who love God of being led by Satan isn’t likely to win them over…

👍 Protestants are Christians. The Catechism says so. Christians do not follow Satan.

????

I am not accusing anyone of being led by Satan… this thread is hopefully going to get a few people to STOP doing that to protestants… Hopefully!

I am protestant and am VERY tired of hearing that protestants are led by Satan… I admit this thread is a reaction to such an accusation but it needed to be said…:o

The initiation of division among Christianity** in history** was certainly not by God.

Who else wants our Christian brothers and sisters to be divided other than Satan himself?

Most of you guys are following Christ wholeheartedly. I know for sure if you were born Catholic, you would be Catholic and said the same thing how much you love God. Similarly, if I were born to be a Protestant, I would probably just like you too.

However, who started all these problems that now we have to stay here and argue . :o

If you attend a Catholic mass tomorrow, you would know what Jesus wanted us to be in the tomorrow’s Gospel? Divisions or Be One?

So go to mass tomorrow. 😉

I think you might be talking about one of my post to you ,again I’m sorry, you might have misunderstood what I meant, its People like
Jim Jones and David Koresh, with their wacky Personal Interpretation that lead people astray.
