I assume most people on this forum are American. I’m from Scotland so i don’t know too much about the church in America, however i get the impression that more and more educated protestants are converting to the real church. Is this true?

I think so. In my opinion, if you learn the history of Christianity, even from a secular standpoint, you must admit that Catholicism is the best representation of Historic Christianity.

…just my take on it 🙂

I get the same impression. RCIA at our parish is always full, lots of Protestants coming over. It wasn’t like this when I converted back in the mid-80s. At that time, my parish didn’t even operate an RCIA program because there was no one interested. When I called the pastor to inquire, he was amazed, and gave me private instruction for several months before confirmation. In those days, I never heard of any other Protestant coming home. Now, it seems like it is happening all over.

I know this is off topic (maybe a new thread…different forum?) but, I just have to ask…

I am in my second year assisting with RCIA in our parish and it is pretty slim. 6-10 people a year. Our director studied at Steubenville under Scott Hahn and is FANTASTIC!

In your opinion, or by your observance, what has happened at your parish to effect the change - attracting so many more. Any suggestions for what we can do?

I myself came home recenty and I think part of the reason is that the Church has not changed its teacthings to “suit the times”. People need to hear the truth and they know that the truth doesn’t change, if the Gods truth is not rock then we are in real trouble. The common example is that of artificial contraception. All Christian Churches were against it until 1933. Now, in most Protestant Churches it is a matter of ones own concience…How does something go from being inherently evil to a matter of ones own concience? Some churches soften their stance on Homosexualtiy, or ordiantion of women.

Plus, I was taught a lot of misinformation about the Churches teachings. Once I started to learn about the Church from Catholic teachers, I found she was right on EVERY point of contention between her and the Prtoestant denominations I attended. Not only that, they backed it up from the Bible. Of course I had never heard a lot of these scriptures taught on (John 6 for example). Bu once I started to study them, allof a sudden a light went on. Now thanks be to God my wife, myself and our 4 children are in the Church that Christ founded.

Thanks be to God, AND Amen! :)… In response to the posters questions, it does seem that way to me - and from a common sense standpoint, its hard for me to understand how those who do research the history, and the faith, are not fallen over in love with it!

Hello Sterryfamily,

I’ve been to my current parish for about 1 1/2 year.
What I have noticed is that my parish has so many activities - education, charity, etc all the time and there are many volunteers. Almost day and night, the church always has cars coming in and out at all time. This is why it makes people notice our church.

Another reason is that we have a great pastor - he is an excellent speaker and his homilies and sermons are always great.

We just built a new church to hold about 1,600 people at one mass [other church holds only 500]

The best thing for you to do is to contact my church and see what kind of activities they do, or you can check out our weekly bulletin to see its activities and programs:

[this bulletin is for tomorrow and it is ready up on the website, there are 4/5 pages]
