Protestants: Do you believe your interpretation of Scripture is infallible?

But therein lay the problem, if we all come with preconceptions etc, how do any of us know the Truth? Either we know the Truth, or we dont know the truth.
You’re right…that is the problem…we don’t know the “Truth”. There is an Ultimate “Truth”…but no finite words or concepts man can conceive of truly and adequately defines “Truth”…“we see through a glass darkly…”

God is experienced as love and light…God is experienced through Christ…but all our words and concepts fail us…as we are finite and mortal and He is infinite and immortal…

So in other words, we cannot really know the Truth

I think we want everything we do to be “authorized” by God…we want all our beliefs and doctines to be infallible…the scriptures teach us “to love God…and love our neighbors as ourselves…herein lie the law and the prophets…”

“Though I know all mysteries and have all knowledge…and have not love…it profits me nothing.”

Having the “correct belief” doesn’t “save” me if…IF…it does not change me on the inside and cause me to walk in the Light. “Love one another…by this shall all men know you are my disciples…that you love one another.”…He didn’t say…“by this will all men know you are my disciples…if you believe the correct doctrine…”

“I was hungry, thirsty, in need of comfort…I was naked…”…a whole different “mind set” than…“I believe such and such…so I’m “saved”.”

“Salvation” is being brought back into relationship with God through Christ…many believe that occurs through the “church”…others don’t…If I believed in “salvation in the church”…I’d be Catholic…I find my salvation in Christ. We will disagree on this…but that’s ok…we disagree on many things…but IMO, none of those “things” have “eternal consequences”…IMO.

So in other words, we cannot really know the Truth
No we can’t…we can acknowledge that our perception of the Truth is right…but even so…it’s only our imperfect finite perception of the Eternal…only in Christ is “truth” known…I guess I have a mystics heart…

For some they claim to know absolute truth…but God is known through experience and faith…my experience and faith is imperfect…in this world anyway…so I trust in Him…I am an imperfect earthen vessel…my words are merely shadows and monosyllables of “truth.”

The Truth is Jesus Christ. The only way we can know the Truth is through the Holy Spirit. Prayer, fasting, meditating, reading Scripture amongst things. If God can speak through a burning bush and a donkey, He can speak through unbelievers if He wants to.
Through Jesus, Scriptures are revealed.

Protestants have announced as their rule of faith: “The Bible, and the Bible only,” with the Holy Spirit as its sole Interpreter. (Jo.16:13).

William Chillingworth, M. A., once said:
“The Bible, I say, the Bible only, is the religion of Protestants! I for my part, after a long and (as I verily believe and hope) impartial search of ‘the true way to eternal happiness,’ do profess plainly that I cannot find any rest for the sole of my foot but upon this rock only. I see plainly and with my own eyes, that there are popes against popes, councils against councils, some fathers against others, the same fathers against themselves, a consent of fathers of one age against a consent of fathers of another age, the church of one age against the church of another age. . . . In a word, there is no sufficient certainty but of Scripture only for any considering man to build upon.” - “The Religion of Protestants,” William Chillingworth, M. A., P. 463. London: 1866.
