Protestants: Do you confess your sins to one another?

In a couple other threads about praying to angels or saints, there were some who do not do this. The reason along these lines: God can handle it, or going “straight” to God is the proper way, and doing otherwise takes away from that.

So the next question is, do you confess your sins to one another or do you go straight to God? Or neither?

It’s not an either/or question, first God knows your heart! second for OUR benefit scripture encourages openly confessing sins to one another.

So do you? And then I guess, do you feel it takes away from relying only on Christ?
 
Yes, I set up a meeting with a trusted Friend and we have a "Meeting for Clearness.’

I don’t, but it is because of a bad experience I had with it a few years back. A “friend” I did it with gossiped and it eventually got back to my wife.

As wacky as it may seem, I’ve given some thought to going to Catholic confession.
 
Some sins yes and some sins no. It depends on how personal they are.

If I sinned against someone I go and confess and apologize and ask for forgiveness to that person. But, I also confess it to God as well because I also sinned against him.😦

My whole church knows Im trying to be a better wife/witness to my husband. They also know Im not very good at being submissive:( This is an ongoing sin in my life that I struggle with daily:( :o They pray for me:thumbsup:
 
I dated a pentecostal a few years back (I know, duh me) and she always questioned me and my family about confession.

She would ask, why do you think that you need to confess to another person?

Well we turned it on her, my dad asked her, do you confess to your congregation? She said yes. We asked why do you feel you need to confess to others?

It is no different, us confessing to a priest, compared to you confessing to everyone.

She didn’t get it.

Well, I understand a priest cannot give you the “absolution” part (barring extraordinary circumstances), but Fr. Groeschel says he gives people, even Jews, a blessing, and of course you’d be protected by their vow to remain silent on what you say!

I heard on Protestant radio the other day a woman “Lisa” sitting in for James Dobson who said her short definition of “submission” to her husband was “getting out of the way enough for God to touch my husband.” I’m paraphrasing, but maybe that’s insightful?

Anyway, off-topic…everyone as you were. 😃

YEAH that is good:thumbsup: I think sometimes my actions or words are getting in the way of his salvation. I dont really know if that is the case but I do need to get out of the way of God.:o

You know how it is though–sometimes you think you can do a better job then God or at the very leadt He needs our help.:eek: :o

Yeah…it was that thread that put the silly thought in the mind (as previously I thought it was totally off limits).

The part about not getting absolution doesn’t bother me.

I think we are all that way. 😃 Just keep on trying to pray and grow…I sure know I need that! 😃

Do catholics really pray to angels or saints?
Or do catholics pray, asking angels or saints to pray with them or for them.

Never heard of a catholic praying to a saint or angel…

No of course not, but I have no “dog in this fight” you may have with Protestants…I have no problems with Catholic belief concerning “confession”…I am a member of the Body of Christ, we share our burdens with one another…we share our hopes with one another…we hold each other up in prayer and seek the welfare of one another in our temporal and spiritual lives.

That some chose a "different “form” to acomplish this is not an issue with me…we admonish one another to “walk in the Light”, we seek the One who is able to “speak to our condition.”

In Anglicanism: all may; none must; some do; some should.

Pray as in “ask” them for intercession.
