I checked it out. Hem is short for hemaroids. It isn’t exactly a compliment! Euegh! At least we all know that it isn’t a justified insult!
Thanks for the research… I think.I checked it out. Hem is short for hemaroids. It isn’t exactly a compliment! Euegh! At least we all know that it isn’t a justified insult!
No. The hemorraging woman who could not stop bleeding.See… that is exactly what came to mind for me too… I just don’t see where the “hem lickers” as an insult comes from… am I just stupid or what?
People have been “taking on” fundamentalists ever since there have been fundamentalists. Have you never read Mencken? The hateful attitude of fundamentalists is in large part a reaction to the way they have been consistently mocked and marginalized in American culture for the past century.Landoverbaptists is a riot! Is about time someone takes on xxxxx.
how do you take them on?The problem with fundamentalists is not that no one has “taken them on.”
It’s an insult - it isn’t anything to do with the Bible. It is to do with the fact that we are thought to do everything the pope says just to keep the church happy! Where do you find hemarhoids? What do some folk call people who ‘suck up to others’? Hence hem lickers. It is nothing Biblical. The Bible doesn;t contain insults.No. The hemorraging woman who could not stop bleeding.
Ignore the hemmoriod comments, they did not check the bible as the bible does not mention hemmoriods!
DUH!
What do you mean? I “take them on” the same way I “take on” anyone else I think is wrong–by trying to point out that they are in error. Also by introducing them (or those who have been burned by them) to a broader view of orthodox Christianity, pointing out the ways in which fundamentalists actually fall short of orthodoxy and distort the real “fundamentals” of the faith.how do you take them on?
Don’t worry BlestOne - In today’s Gospel, Jesus told his disciples to leave town where they are not welcome.OK… I did a a really stupid thing… I engaged one of these folks in myspace and boy is he slamming me… not about theology, but horrid stuff like my son’s are bald and stupid and my dd looks like a ****… I should have known better!
I know I got sucked in for a while… haven’t responded since they started attacking my kids:Don’t worry BlestOne - In today’s Gospel, Jesus told his disciples to leave town where they are not welcome.
The easiest thing for you to do is to ignore those people. It will neither help you nor them if you engage the folks. There are plenty of nice non-C folks here to discuss with.
Good heavens. And we think things get hairy on this board!I know I got sucked in for a while… haven’t responded since they started attacking my kids:
a couple with shaved heads looked downright stupid and a younger daughter had a bit of the “*d.y.k.e.” about her. Of course I could be wrong. Still…maybe not.
You know me…I’m a gentle numpty who tries to be reasonable…
and you also know i am probably not even talking about you know who but since she does have a son with a shaved head and a butchy looking little girl…she will make that assumption.
It’s tragic too…kids are innocent.
What strange times we live in.
and this about me from the dear pastor:
You are so right. I bet after all those kids she looks like she has been ridden hard and put up wet. Getting old is awfully tough on gals, thankfully the lord tries to protect them from the shame of being saggy and wrinkly, he makes sure once the reach a certain age somewhere in their 40’s or early 50’s and are no longer remotely desirable, they go through the ‘change of life’ so that their poor husbands won’t feel the obligation to try and procreate with them. Perhaps she is going through that ‘change’, it would explain the surly temperament and desire to pick fights, I hear women get all hormonal and hysterical during the ‘change’.
Poor thing.
Good heavens. And we think things get hairy on this board!
It’s moments like that when it’s hard not to break out a few execratory Psalms!
And when it’s hard to see what is so wrong about duelling. . .

I am sorry to read such messages. However, I would say that we should ignore them for two reasons:
Pray will help.
- one reason is already mentioned from my previous reply.
- the other reason is not to jump to conclusion that this person is a pastor. In this world, through internet, we don’t know who really is on the end. It might be as well someone who hates Christians in general so much and pretend a Christian to bring bad name and divisions among us.
God bless.
I’d like to add a third reason: it disturbs our peace and may lead us to uncharitable thoughts and near-occasion of sin.I am sorry to read such messages. However, I would say that we should ignore them for two reasons:

Be sure to click on my pic to see my site… and if you have a myspace… don’t forget to say hi
I know I should not read the links above whether it is true or not, this is because I have problem controlling my temper - it’s my weakness. CB Catholic’s reason is right for me sometimes when I let my emotion over my charity.I’d like to add a third reason: it disturbs our peace and may lead us to uncharitable thoughts and near-occasion of sin.
