Apart from the fact that Protestants accept Christ as Lord and Saviour, and believe much of what He did, even though they do not believe much of what He said, what is the basic difference between Protestantism and Islam as self-declared oppontents of the Catholic Church?

Muslims deny the Trinity and believe in the Prophethood of Muhammad.

Some Protestants don’t seem to regard Mary as particularly special, Muslims do.

Further than that it really depends what denomination of Protestantism

Some Protestants deny the Trinity. I have in mind WLC, SDA, LDS, CBO, BTS, JHM, JW’s and NAM, None of these Protestant broups acknowledge the Trinity as we understand it.

They are all conspicious for another reason: they selectively interpret what they want to accept from the Lord’s teachings. and they all plot for the downfall of Catholicism

If they deny the Trinity they are not Christian, let alone Protestant.

My dear LDNCatholic, it is not nice to accuse Protestants of not being Christian. I have many friends who are Protestant and I can confirm that some are very committed to the faith. It is just that some are not and worse are claiming to be!

Please, call me Peter. The mark of a Christian is belief in the Holy Trinity, God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. I do not intend insult by saying they are not Christian, I am merely stating fact. They are no more Christian than Mormons or Jehova’s Witnesses.

Islam nor muslims are opponents of the catholic church.

Not even in a philosophical sense? I know that there isn’t an army of mujahideen banging on the gates of Rome, but surely Muslims oppose what they see as polytheism (I’ve been called a polytheist by Muslims on internet forums countless times).

Just because Protestants and Muslims both oppose the Catholic Church doesn’t make them similar in any other way. Also, the Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and every other religion and Christian denomination opposes the Catholic Church. If they didn’t they would be Catholic 😉

I really don’t understand what you are trying to say.

As a matter of fact, I would say that Catholicism is closer than Protestantism to Islam. Catholics admit (as hotly debated here at CAF) that they worship the same God. Protestants would not agree with that.

It never ceases to amaze me the depths of deception within the Muslim community.

Or me those that are Catholic that do not know their faith and Catechism:

841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. “The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.”[330]

They are not opponents unless you want to make them one. But then you are in clear violation of Church teaching.

Drinking political Kool-aid conflicts with your Church teaching.

I’m not Catholic. And I really don’t care what the Catechism says about the Church’s relationship to Muslims. I’ve discussed this on other threads. I want nothing to do with Islam and not because of political reasons. My biggest peeve is their denial of my Savior the Lord Jesus as Divine. Anyone who denies that cannot be a religious friend of mine. This is one of the issues that I would have to have worked out before I could become Catholic.

How many Muslims do you actually know? I’d reckon not enough to judge their entire ‘‘community’’
This has been talked about ad nauseum. They are allowed to lie in certain circumstances. That plus the Quran shows how they really feel about Christianity. I am friends with all kinds of people. That doesn’t mean I believe everything they say or approve of everything they do. I love them anyway, despite their faults.

Bald-faced lies, and blatant hatred that reminds me of why I have often considered leaving this site.
Comparing non-Roman-Catholics to moslems who denies Our Lord.

And secondly: It is NOT true that protestants “do not believe much of what He said”. It is the other way around.

Protestants are Christians (and on safer ground than the Roman-Catholic church!), Islam is not.

The audacity

NO PROTESTANTS DENY THE TRINITY!!!

To deny the Trinity is to put oneself outside of Christendom, and Protestants are Christians.

The only one of those abbreviations I recognize is “JW’s”, and Jehova’s Witnesses ARE NOT PROTESTANTS. They are not - they’re not even Christians.

Unfortunately,

I think that Catholics do lump anyone who say to follow Christ but not their faith is considered Protestant. Not that it is fair, but that is what is said. At the same time, In my experiences, I have heard too many non-Catholic Christians bashing Catholics. Find the commonality and be in peace. That being said. When Jesus said no one goes through the Father, except through Me. I doubt that He included Muslims because they do not acknowledge him as their God. Maybe I am wrong and assuming too mcuh .👍
