By the way, Peter, Pope Benedict reigned from 1740 to 1758. In 1677 our Pontiff was Innocent Xl. He wrote only two encyclicals, Coelestis Pastor and Sollictudo pastoralis, neither of which condemn belief in the miraculous conception of Mary nor even touch the subject of Mary. I have a list of all papal encyclicals ever issued to the Church, but *De Festis *is not among them in my Catholic sources for some reason.St. Anna wasn’t a virgin when she conceived and bore Mary. Our Blessed Mother had an elder sister, *Mariam *(daughter of Heli). Our Lady’s mother wasn’t barren before she conceived Mary.
If in fact Pope Benedict lV had condemned the belief in the miraculous conception of Mary, he could have erred in his judgment. There are seven infallible papal documents in existence according to the criteria infallibly set by Vatican l Council. De Festis is not one of them. Nor did Pope Benedict lV ever issue an infallible encyclical.
