I will say that for many people, it wouldn’t hurt to learn HOW to interpret scripture. I’m taking a class on Biblical interpretation right now, and while it hasn’t changed my theological beliefs, it has changed how I read the Bible, and I’ve learned a lot about passages that are often mis-(name removed by moderator)terpreted by people.
Not to mention that in learning these methods, and matching up my interpretation with most scholars down the many centuries, I’ve found that my interpretation is either the same as theirs, or not too far off. So like I said above, when done properly and when allowing the Holy Spirit to do its work, it can be done. I’m pretty sure I’m not a heretic.
