This is taken from another poster who said that s/he prayed TO God in the Name of Jesus Christ…

Do you do this, and, if so, do you also, independant of that prayer, pray TO Jesus Christ and pray TO The Holy Spirit (who are also God)?

Question is at face value. I may have some follow up questions, but, it’s not a trick question.

I don’t know that I’ve ever really tried to distinguish between them. Most of my prayers are non-vocal…I have prayed vocally in Meeting and have led in prayer in other faith traditions…I do address God as “Father”…and I have been conscious of “speaking to” Jesus, and I have been conscious of requesting the Presence of the Holy Spirit…but not as “separate” Beings.

God is One…One Eternal Presence…Immanent…it really hasn’t occured to me to “separate the three” in prayer.

There’s a humourous story Friends tell. A Friend was asked to say grace over a meal while visiting some Baptist friends…as is the manner of Friends the prayer was silent as all sat with heads bowed…the Friend said “Amen” and began eating. The Baptist looked over at the Quaker guest and said …“I didn’t hear you say anything.”…The Friend responded with a smile…“Friend, that’s because I wasn’t speaking to thee.”🙂
