St Veronica:
Ken is one of the nicest non-Catholics you will meet on the forums…I know him from another forum I used to be on (that was not overly friendly to Catholics) and he is one of the gems who while disagreeing with some of the Catholic faith, is not anti-Catholic in attitude/speech.

Good to see you around still Ken…praying for your conversion 🙂

ok you two… lets not get accused with being one of the overly friendly sites to catholics, mix it up a little ok? … 😃

several of us here work hard to keep charity to a respectable minimum… 😃

Peace… 👍

I do not understand the obessesion that some Protestants have with Catholicism. I can’t imagine that any of them have done research about the Catholic faith. They must base their opinions on the rumors that they hear. There was recently a group of high school kids here that destroyed a statue of Mary because they think that the Catholic Church worships her. I appreciate their zeal for the faith, but I am disgusted by their ignorance.

I think that their time would be much better served attempting to bring others to Christ, then to argue over worship details. I am sure that God feels the same way.

I agree with this statement. Luther actually went ballistic on a group of people that started destroying things that they thought were Catholic Symbols.

I have seen the same from Catholics towards Protestants though. I have seen first hand a group of Catholics be very rude to a Protestant wearing a cross. They said that he should be wearing a Crucifix. The then pulled it of his neck and threw it on the floor.

This behavoir baffles me. I wouldn’t go and burn the American Flag my neighbor is displaying because I disagree with him on a series of points. At the core, we are both still Americans, and believe in certain truths and rights that all should be given.

Jesus’s message was one of Love, not Hate.

Could you please provide dates times and place that you saw this I think the Bishop in that area should be informed so that he can properly teach his flock on the value of Christian virtue.

I was raised fundamentalist and I became very fascinated by Catholicism as I got older. I can’t even explain why–I guess partly because I have always been addicted to history. I loved visiting cathedrals in Europe when I was in college. They felt so different than the metal-building, folding-chair, drums and electronic piano, nondenominational setup I was used to. It got to the point where I felt sad that I couldn’t be part of it, but I was sure that I would never convert. I did a research paper on St. Thomas More in college, and even read parts of the catechism a year or so after I graduated. I am sure there are a lot of saints in heaven that I have to thank, because I became a Catholic last year. 🙂 I am so thankful every day, and so blessed to be Catholic!

I think that curiousity can be a great thing, because it can get people interested in the Church that Jesus founded. It worked for me. 😉

…We live in area where we are the minority and are visited by evangelicals on a regular basis. We have a Blessed Virgin statue in our front lawn (I would prefer to have her in the back yard, but my dog digs up the flowers around her). It would be obvious to anyone that we are Catholic and instead of it detouring these visitors it seems to attract them…
Theopholis,

Sounds like a ready made oportunity to evangelize! Let them come to your door and you can teach them the truth. If non-Christians come by you can evangelze them and try to lead them to Christ.

Now I want to put a Blessed Mary garden in my front yard too!

As an atheist, I can understand that. Many people, when I tell them that I am an atheist, go into a fit. Even when I’ve shown them that their beliefs about me are wrong, they still cling to what they have been told.

In fact I was discussing Harry Potter in a thread on this forum. When I brought up to the person I was debating with that I was an atheist, they dropped the discussion completly and started in on me. I told them that it was off topic and that we should discuss HP, but they did not wish to leave it alone.

But no matter what you do, or where you go, you’re always going to come across jerks. No matter if they’re Catholic, Protestant, Islamic, or Atheist:(
I totally agree. It’s seems there are those who just have to prove they are right and you are wrong! :hmmm:
