It seems odd to me that protestants will not see St. Mary for who she is.

Jesus had an answer to this;

Luke 11:27 And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.

28 But → he said, Yea rather, → blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. Ps 119:11;130-133

The Blessing does not come through the mother of Jesus Christ but to be transformed only through the Word of God to those to do it and obey it only. Not to have a sin nature anymore or no more sinning if we turn to Christ only, Right?

Is not that the higher teaching of Christ?
Hello,

Please excuse me but how does this have anything to do with WHO Mother Mary really is? Are you implying as most protestants would, that somehow alluding any honor to Mother Mary would take away the Greatness of Our Lord? Open your eyes and see Her for who she is and who God made her to be.

God Bless:)

If God wanted to use Mary for his purposes so be it, He is God. Mary praised him for it.

Please show me where God commanded Mary to be put into the position of authority that i have seen Catholic place her.

In the Passage above, if Jesus was putting Mary in such a position this would have been a good place to announce it. Maybe? How about the first part of Acts before he left. I have yet to see the definitive direct evidence? to me only hear say and opinion. If this idea of Mary being someone to go threw to get to Jesus is true, I can’t believe God didn’t leave the evidence for it. And please if the evidence was there i don’t believe there would be so much controversy around it.
Firstly, Mother Mary does not have any authority over the Lord. I think you are not well acquainted with our doctrine on her.
Secondly, it is not a dogma of the Church, that we must go through Mother Mary to get to Jesus. We as Catholics believe she intercedes and prays for us. The *Communion of Saints *as stated in the Apostles Creed. She has many titles, as would be fitting the mother of Our Lord.
As Mary was truly the mother of Jesus, and as Jesus was truly God from the first moment of His conception, Mary is truly the mother of God. Even the earliest Fathers did not hesitate to draw this conclusion as may be seen in the writings of St. Ignatius [72], St. Irenaeus [73], and Tertullian [74]. The contention of Nestorius denying to Mary the title “Mother of God” [75] was followed by the teaching of the Council of Ephesus proclaiming Mary to be Theotokos in the true sense of the word.

Well, Because Jesus puts His Word (instruction of Righteousness) and Character (to have His Character in the mind and actions by that instruction) above everything and everyone just like Mary did, if we are to Honour Mary as you say we should, then lets do what she said, ok, would not that be fair to her to honour her wishes? So lets open our eyes upon the Lord Jesus Christ only to fall upon His feet to listen to the Lord of eternal life.

John 2:5
His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, → do it.

humble maid I like that.

I hope it keeps you in perspective.

I am glad you believe Mary does nto have more authority over God, but it seems there are those, on this board, that believe she has incredible persuasive power over Him.

I have yet to find any evidence that leads me to believe any person who has past over before us can actual hear us.

And before you say it… just because God can do it, Doesn’t mean he did…

I have been reading these boards for over a year and have lived and worked in a Catholic community for over 40 and a catholic/ community school for 9 of those years. Plus I have had family that is Catholic so I am well aware of what is taught in comparison to what is practiced.

What you don’t think she does, Are you saying that Jesus does not want to please his Mother. What about the time he changed water into wine? Are you saying he did not want to please his Mother.

Loving someone and wanting to make them happy has nothing to do with having power over someone. Just like the Blessed Mother has no power over God, does not mean he does not listen to her prayers.

Just like my husband does thinks to please me, I have no power over him.

What about when Jesus was talking to Abraham and Elijah?

What about when Jesus was talking to Abraham and Elijah?
Special circumstance, they where talking to Jesus. besides Abarham and Eijah came to earth. We see all kinds of comunications with Gods angels, when they where sent to earth by God. This passage does not prove those who have died a physical death and left the confines of this earth in heaven, can hear us, or we can communicate with them.

There is also no inidication from the passage, that the apostles where in on the conversation.

The parable of lazarus and the rich Man tell me that Jesus taught that there is no communcation between here and the after life. we are on our own…

Matt 22:31-32 will show you. We have a God of the living not the dead. Also if I may ask you just said yourself that Gods angels can communicate when they are sent to earth by God, What makes you think that when we pray God does not send them to hear our prayers?

Don’t you two mean “Moses” and “Elijah”?
oops missed that too! me bad 😊
Matt 22:31-32 will show you
.

i’m familiar with the passage.
We have a God of the living not the dead.
I agree, have no problem with this statement. I would also have to ask what Jesus meant by living? and what the hearers actually heard.
Also if I may ask you just said yourself that Gods angels can communicate when they are sent to earth by God,
What makes you think God does? Just because God can, the question is does He?

This passage show no direct evidence that Jesus is saying that we will be able to have a conversation with the those who have left this earth.

He is answering a direct question about marriage in heaven and what will happen in the after life, beyond this physical world.
What makes you think that when we pray God does not send them to hear our prayers?
The evidence shows me he doesn’t.

Communication with the dead was forbidden under the Law given to Moses. I am still looking for that direct change to that law from God. Something like when Jesus was on the mount. It would probably go something like this… It has been written that communicating with the dead is forbidden… today I change that rule to…

I also struggle with the idea that if it was written in the Bible that it was acceptable practice by God. The bible is full of examples of law breakers.
