wow…so a whole church started because a king wanted an annulment!!
If we are on a thread about politeness, lets at least not be snide to one another.

You might not have meant this in a sarcastic way and I apologize if I have misread you.

mocking me or the other church?
am mocking neither…am just surprised that schism could occur because a king wanted an annulment that wasn’t guaranteed! that is, schism occured bcause of a personal matter :o

Yeah it was…just oculdnt figure out why you had to fully disclose what you did:D …
Mostly to remind myself. I so often find myself arguing over doctrine with Catholics and other christians that I forget sometimes.

yes. Neither of my parents are religious, although my mom has started coming to our services and reading the Torah on off recently.
You have something in common with my hubby. His dad is a Baptist, and a deacon in the church. His mom was from a Jewish family that escaped from Austria the same year that Hitler invaded!

I see. It is strange, isn’t it? Still many of the Angelicans that come on this forum are polite and have beliefs similar to Catholics.

C.S. Lewis-the writer of Narnia-was an Angelican.

I apologize. I was being overly sensitive.😦

The few I’ve attended, yes. Generally the overall topic will be something we can both agree on, i.e., the need for peace, love of God. Shortly after 9/11 there was an interfaith prayer meeting in my town. Stuff like that.
so nothing to really bridge the gap between the two faiths?.

sorry…perhaps it was the tone:confused:
and yes it is pretty sad…a split because no annulment was granted.

Ah yes, ignorance is bliss! (just a phase! not saying anyone is ignorant or anything like that)

I did know about the animosity between some Protestants and Catholics before I came here. I attribute that to living all my life in the ā€œBible Belt,ā€ a hotbed for churches who exclaim that the Catholic Church is the Whore of Babylon. Many even go so far as to proclaim that mainstream Protestant denominations are not ā€œtrue Christians.ā€ I have had people tell me outright that I’m a cannibal, I’m going to Hell, I worship idols, my pope is the antichrist, and on and on, so I don’t expect much less than that from here. Maybe that has given me a bad outlook on a lot of Protestants, but I try to remain unbiased toward them. Keyword: try. I have my faults; I admit that I have lost my temper here before. I am trying to learn not to judge people on the first things they say in their posts and to just hold back a while. I also think forums like this are themselves hotbeds for extreme views on both sides. Thus I think the people most attracted here are the virulent anti-Catholics and the staunchest Catholic defenders. That’s just the way it is, IMHO.

Do the different types(?) of Jews do the same thing? The reform, orthodox, progressive, etc. (don’t know if I got those right or not…)
