It seems that you’re implying that as a woman, my only choice is to conceive or not to conceive. I think my choice is to engage in sexual intercourse or not to engage in sexual intercourse [after all sex is what makes babies…]. I believe I have enough self-control to avoid having sex until I’m ready for the responsibility of children. I don’t feel oppressed - I feel liberated! How awesome is it that I can conceive, carry, bear, and nuture a child?!
Actually a woman can choose to conceive, or not to conceive, have intercourse, or not have intercourse. I feel liberated that I have a choice.

I live in one too, my mum is one of 19. They are blessings.

Wy do you doubt it? On what authority?
Because when people don’t have to raise unwanted children, they are so much happier about it. Lots of times they hate the children for being born and take it out on them. Just because a church said they have to be fruitful and multiply. Even if they are married.

Great, so we both feel liberated. I’ll respect your liberation, please respect mine. As I read your posts, it seemed you were implying that Catholic women are nothing more than baby factories. I wanted to attempt to clear up the confusion.

Be quiet and get back in the kitchen until you’re ready to give birth again.

😛
😛 I love our sense of humor too, that seems to be missing a lot among other faith’s, may be that they are too uptight trying to remember to take their pill everyday or something, whereas we just have to abstain about three days a month, of course that seems to be too much for some also, wow, and they think we are animals.

I doubt that children have anything to do with their “issues”, they probably just need to get over being so selfish.

People who are so mentally unstable as to hate their children are not acting like adults.

Sex is for adults.

It is also for procreation, that fact is inescapeable.

Also, the Church didn’t ‘‘say’’ it. The Lord God Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth commanded it. Who are you to argue with His wisdom, His ruling?

Exactly, I’ve noticed animals can’t seem to control their lustful instincts either.

Being a slave to lust is not liberation.

They have bad arguments for a view that you hold dear too, they are saying a lot of things besides what you read, we had a whole bunch of this yesterday from them too, so I will be leaving this thread now, they are too hard-headed for me and don’t read anything that gets posted and take it in.

Exactly, that does seem to be one of the problems of those who claim that artificial birth control is the way to go, Married or not, they don’t seem to get that the Sacred Act is also meant for Marriages only between one man and one woman and not just for procreation purposes but also for unitive purposes, they just have to remain open to life.

I hope that you were not implying that I said anybody was an animal. My mother is Catholic(I have no idea why) But I am not uptight when I take my pill. It’s for medicinal purposes. I was diagnosed at 13 with the PCOS. I do want children someday and am looking at other options. I just don’t know why contraception(mainly, condoms, without the spermicide was so evil) I thought that all forms of birth control being considered evil were odd. This post asked what I thought was odd. I answered it. Obviously people can not be adults and choose what they do in their bedrooms. They have to be concerned about their spiritual welfare:eek:

If she is a Catholic she should not have had pre marital sex.
If she is a CHRISTIAN, and has read any version of the Holy Bible, she should not have had pre-marital sex.

Pre-marital sex is not only a no-no in the Catholic church!👍

(Sometimes, I think we expect a degree of perfection from others because of what we think they (their label) represent)

For me, I respectfully say…

The Priesthood’s “authority” <— I use the word lightly because I have NO problem with Priests, Bishops, the Pope etc…but how they decide what’s valid or not…ie marriages, communion, confession etc. And not so much calling a Priest “Father”, but calling the Pope “Holy Father”.

I believe in authority, no doubt. And I think that Pope John Paul II was one of the best represenatives of Christianity ever ( I don’t know too much about Pope Benidict) I just don’t agree with the “Rome has spoken, no more questions” perspective I see SOMETIMES…not all the time.

I have nothing against Catholics, and I’d go as far as to say that I’m probably as close to Catholic as I can get without actually going to RCIA and converting. 99.3% Catholic…if that’s possible:D
Snort, chuckle. I WISH half the people who ARE Catholic were “99.3%” Catholic!

You got that right, we are responsible and concerned about not only our spiritual welfare but yours as well, and please don’t act all innocent, I read all of your posts yesterday, you defended your position of ABC all day long until one poster pointed out something to you that you said you’d think about. You also said you were Baptized Catholic but that you weren’t praticing your faith but that you do pratice artificial birth control. hummm, seems to be a connection there.

Back in the 1970s, when I was a teenager, I had gotten involved in the pro-life movement (I’m still active in it.)

I remember volunteering as a counselor for a pro-life group back then (this was before CPCs). Often we had to counsel pregnant girls who were Catholic, often students in Catholic schools.

And often, the girls would tell us that they got pregnant because they did not want to use birth control because it was sinful (and premarital sex is NOT?)

Being a slave to lust is not liberation.
Having marital relations by sexual intercourse for one another out of love is not lust.

I am concerned about my spiritual welfare in regards to every aspect of my God-given life. Again, I find it liberating to know that I can respect my Father and Mother [as well as my earthly father and mother!] through every choice I make, including those choices that occur behind closed doors.

You could not like something and be mentally stable. Wow… that was a bit of a jump. People can have sex minus the children.

But I am not uptight when I take my pill. It’s for medicinal purposes. … I just don’t know why contraception(mainly, condoms, without the spermicide was so evil) I thought that all forms of birth control being considered evil were odd.
Just a FYI (as this isn’t a thread on contraception)

A) the Contraceptive Pill is an ABORTIVE device. That is, sometimes, while taking the pill, the woman will become pregnant. The pill causes a spontaneous abortion. Check it out. Read the Physicians Desk Reference. Read your insert in your pills.

B) The Condom is considered ‘evil’ because it is a barrier between the two people that are involved in an act that is intended to bring them as close together as possible. “Come here, come here, come here… no get away, get away, get away” is not loving!:o

Like you, for a very long time, I thought it odd that birth control was something that should not only not be discouraged, but encouraged, until I found out what it really does to be a ‘birth control’. Do a little investigation. While it may be ‘odd’, on certain levels, it makes sense to not encourage it.

(What I find odd is how non-Catholic Christians are ok with it… because of the ‘well, they’re going to do it anyway’ mentality!😦 )
