PCOS Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is one of the leading causes of infertility in women
So why take artificial birth control if already you are infertile? Does that make sense to anyone?
If I am infertile, it doesn’t make a difference if I take the pill or not. So I can take them to have a regular menstral cycle, doctor.

It is not a nice try, It is the truth.
With everything said, I will pray for you, that you be not judged with the same contempt you have for human life as you do towards an unborn child. That’s a harsh standard to set for yourself.

Don’t pray for me. I don’t have contempt for embryos/fetuses

Or perhaps carjack is just scared of pregnacy. That is my opinion. And it was strengthened by her comment :

carjack: Pregnancy is not for everybody. My twin sisters stretched my mom’s uterus so bad, she had to get a hysterectomy. No thank you.

It is one thing to try and convince someone that their choice is a bad one. But sometimes “blunt” is more charitable (truthful) than a soft sell.

.

As a Catholic, I can see tons of things that people might find strange, depending on thier point of view. This could be an interesting discussion if it comes back around…

They got knocked up and didn’t want it. They know it is a mortal sin to “abort” and they know that they can’t be on birth control. They are trying to be obedient.
This is a guttural expression to say they are pregnant. You are mistaken that they cannot use birth control but that method must be a natural method. You still haven’t answered me. The dictionary defines person has a human. Science defines embryo as human. Where do you get your definitions?

Too late I already have. 🙂
“He who knows not and knows not he knows not: he is a fool - shun him. He who knows not and knows he knows not: he is simple - teach him. He who knows and knows not he knows: he is asleep - wake him. He who knows and knows he knows: he is wise - follow him.”

Carjack, where do you fit in this proverb? From reading your posts, it seems to me that you have not only a broad streak of selfishness, but of immaturity as well. Do you speak out of comtempt or fear or of simply not thinking through your assertations? A marriage not built first on Faith and mutual trust, as evidenced by your refusal to be open to children, is usually doomed to failure. At the end of the day, the attraction of sex does not last forever, and if it is the only binding force, the “marriage” falls apart. That is what I seem to be seeing, sorry for seeming judgmental, or maybe not. Peace and I hope that you come to see things differently. I realize what a handicap that you are operating under, being baptized against your will and all.

You know nothing of my marriage, which has NOTHING to do with sexual attraction. I speak of my convictions. Are you being sarcastic about being baptized?

I am quite sure that your marriage is a pure meeting of two like minds, but one wonders. As to your baptism, which you refer to as “a hideous choice”, you appearently regard it as some kind of assault rather than your mother’s attempt to place you within Christ’s Church. You cannot repudiate your baptism and I get the feeling that you are angry because you somehow natively know that your opinions and attitudes conflict with the core beliefs of the Church that you were so unwillingly baptised into. You have a problem with authority and discipline? You are young, right? Perhaps with time and reflection your opinions will mellow.

Pregnancy is not for everybody. My twin sisters stretched my mom’s uterus so bad, she had to get a hysterectomy. No thank you.
Well apparently other factors were contributing to this as well.
My Grandmother had 14 children, two sets of twins and didn’t have that problem. The uterus is made to stretch, these ligaments stretch like a rubber band, then go back to the normal state. Obviously your mother had other problems as pregnancy doesn’t normally cause that.

Carjack,

In reading the previous post you’ve made on this topic, I’m confused.

You do not agree with the stance that contraception can act as an abortifacient because, in your view, before a fertilized egg implants, it is not a person. In other posts, you have indicated that you do not believe a baby is a ‘person’ until it has been, in your words, “born out of a uterus.”

However, you also state that you do not agree with abortion, that women should not abort their babies. But if a baby is not a person before it is born, then WHY do you believe abortion is wrong? Why do you think that unborn baby deserves to live? If it is not a person, and therefore does not have rights as a person would, why wouldn’t abortion be wrong, in your view?

Can you clarify this for me?

:crying:

I have mentioned this before…From the exploring thread.

I am a 28 year old woman, who was baptized Catholic. My mother and father never took us to church. But she prayed alot and used to have the priest bless our house. She sent me to Catholic School in 1st grade. I hated it. The children were mean. I let that influence my opinion of the Catholic church. Then I messed up in school in 7th grade and my mother(knowing that I hated Catholic School)sent me to Catholic school as a punishment. I never got confirmed or my Holy Communion. My fondest memory of praying as a little girl, was that I prayed Catholic. I asked my mom, if I really desire something that is unselfish, what should I do? (I wanted twin sisters at the time, I had seen a show about twins, I thought that was great) I prayed for 2 sisters. God answered that prayer . I remember that and I find that I am looking to the Catholic Church. My one sister went to Catholic School and got her Holy Communion and Baptism done. The other twin got her baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation done. I feel closer to God when I pray on the Rosary.

Exploring the many religions has made me confused. I know that I believe in the Trinity. So I knew that any Non-Trinitarian churches were out of the question. I believe that Baptism is to enter in the family of Christ. I don’t believe in the doctrine, once saved always saved. Which is why I never allowed another church to baptize me, I knew I had gotten that done as a baby. I love worshipping God by singing. I went to Mass and didn’t notice too much singing, which sort of lead me to study a non-denominational church.

I’ve lead a life of pain, through the years. Sinning “mortally”(as Catholics would say) I got an abortion:eek: . I’ve repented. I have bought the NIV bibles and the Catholic Bibles. I want to do comparative studies. I asked my mom why she chose the Catholic religion. Not that she was devout, I plan to be devout to the church I choose. I do not believe that someone who is a Christian, but not Catholic would go to hell automatically because they are not Catholic. I find that a bit presumptive. It is sad that Catholics and Christians fight so much on the forum. She said because parts of the Other Christian demoninations, had practices that originated from the Catholics.

But my mother probably was considered what Catholics called feminist. She never had the sex talk, until it was too late. She always said don’t bring a baby to my house. If you do, you will not have it. she kept her word with that on my sister, who at 13 didn’t want to have one, but got one for my mohter’s peace of mind. I never dared tried it while living with her. She just pretty much said “abortion isn’t birth control” so if you are going to do your business, then use something. I was 12 when I lost my innocence. 😦 I wish she would of had that talk with me. I am not sure it would of made a difference. But I didn’t know it was a sin until it was too late. By then I was damaged goods. As my father would put it. My teens were pretty much promiscuous. I had partners in my early twenties. At one point, I had about four, then I got pregnant, I was told that it would be difficult to get pregnant because I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and I was using protection(condoms). i lived with my father at the time, I was sooooooo scared to tell him about my situation, because I knew he would judge me(not for the pregnancy, but for no knowing who the father was, he is an old fashioned hispanic man) To him, a woman’s worth equals the amount of partners she did and didn’t have.
So I had a abortion. There were protesters there. I was so angry at these people. They didn’t know my delema, but they were telling me how to lead my life. Out of the partners I had one stood by me through the ordeal. He was supportive of me and made me realize that I could be loved for more than my sexuality. I didn’t regret the abortion right after it happened. But now as I am getting older. I was wondering what could have been and how selfish I was. I was told to the by the GYN to use the BC Pill for the PCOS and the after treatment of the abortion. i didn’t know that I was still aborting babies by using the pill or any contraception. Being taught about this from a young age, I thought I was preventing a pregnancy from occuring, but not through abortion. So imagine my surprise, when I am told that I committed murder all over again :crying: I saw photos of what happened to the babies and started begging God for His forgiveness.

I married that man who stood by me wo months ago. He is also an athiest. After being married, I asked myself, how am i going to raise the children, when and if I could have them? I knew that was important as well as the responsibiliy of it. He said that I will be in charge of raising the children in the religion of my choice. I thank God for that. However, he doesn’t want children right away. i did. He wants to buy a bigger house first So I trained myself not to want to have kids either. 😦 . He will not touch me, unless He knows I will not get pregnant. Which is being fulfilled through my pill. Maybe he will consider the NFP. I am very confused. You guys are right 👍 I thought I was strange for wanting to start a family. :crying: Sorry if I seemed insensitive. I am trying to figure out things.
Code:
This information is scaring me: Oral contraception (the pill): Headaches, depression, weight gain, reduced libido, gall bladder disease, increased blood pressure, increased blood sugar, risk of strokes and blood clots, heart attacks, infertility, liver tumors, cancer of the breast and reproductive organs, death.
This here is really really scaring me Abortion: Infertility, pelvic infection, laceration of cervix and bowel, perforated uterus, severe bleeding, shock, death due to hemorrhage or infection, increased risk of breast cancer (especially if first pregnancy is terminated), depression.

I didn’t know most of these side effects.

If you ask me, you have enough on your plate to make you into a saint.

I KNEW you had had an abortion by the way you were writing here. God love ya! Big cyber-hug to you.

My advice – not that you’re asking: FIRST: RELAX. You have clearly been dragged around intellectually and morally. Calm down. Take one baby step at a time. You are on a spiritual, intellectual and moral quest that will take more than a day.

You might begin with a Rachel’s Vineyard retreat. Many women begin healing from much more than abortion by attending one of these weekends. You OWE it to yourself. You do not need to go through life with the confusion and anger you now have. There IS peace and wholeness ahead for you.

sorry for all of your confusion and pain.
i think you really do want and need the catholic church.
there’s just a lot to take in tho.

have you talked to a priest yet?
(just remember priests are people too, find one that you are compatible with)

You may be a little “old” for the Pure Love Club, but since you missed a LOT in your formative years, you might just want to check in there – it’s linked on the main page of Catholic Answers. I believe Crystallina Evert had a similar history of promiscuity – but without the abortion.

I think you’re on your way to a new day. Tomorrow is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I’m going to offer my Mass for you tomorrow morning. My daughter is named for the Sacred Heart, and is nearly your age. She’ll have to share with you tomorrow!

Carjack :hug3:

Sorry for everything you’ve been through…life is not easy…sometimes we learn the hard way…put all your suffering at the feet of Jesus and He will guide you…i think we must all pray for your husband…it takes 2 to tango.

Me too carjack, relax, God has you, you’re coming home soon, you just need to take it one step at a time now, we’ll all be praying for you and answering you as you learn and question. Take the advice of talking to a Priest, they are great at getting our souls in shape first, then everything else falls into place. Peace be with you.

Amen! If you study the true position of the Catholic Church as regards the status of women, you will find that in no other Church do women occupy a greater position of dignity. You, as a woman, possess something that no man has ever possessed. Namely, the ability to cooperate with Almighty God Himself in the creation of new life. This is both a high honor and a great responsibility. It also requires the woman to have a partner (spouse) that is capable of understanding his part in this great task. Men who are ignorant or uncaring of this fact will simply view the woman as an object to be exploited, rather than the partner in a holy union. You have appearently been denied this respect and I can understand your confusion and resentment. Remember, the Church does not demand the impossible, she demands only that which is right and what is best for us as children of God. Have you noticed that when we break the rules that God has set down for us, that misery and unhappiness always result? OK, enough preaching. Please, see a priest and dig into what the Church teaches about your own situation. You’ll make it, God bless you.
