Protestants: What ONE Protestant alternative to Catholicism is essential?

Well that’s just the problem with BEING Protestant isn’t it?

I would think that could be a clue.
I think this is a Catholic mindset, on construct. I cannot recall, when I’ve asked someone where they go to church, hearing the response, “the Protestant Church down the street”.
They will say the denomination/tradition they are members of.
IOW, so-called Protestants rarely identify themselves that way.
 
And that is when the RCC and EO are largely irrelevant in your daily life.

It’s more interesting or scandalous what the local pentecoastals or evangelicals are up to than those-guys-somewhere-else-doing-their-own-thing. No point in flaunting being Protestant when just about everyone is, of one kind or another.
