Actually, Christianity didn’t become legal in Rome until the late 300s by the Emperor Constantine. So, we had Roman back up until then. We just spread the Church to the people in secrecy and under persecutions. You may say that the longevity of your RC church proves it to be the "true church: I would say that ROME being a powerful empire politcally Had a lot more to do with it 's longevity than it being the “True Church”.
Actually one of my favorite Books was written by an Anglican C.S Lewis. He had an amazing way of showing the reader how to see God.I don’t like how the Catholic Church doesn’t practice open communion… They got the whole closed communion thing wrong… We Episcopalians do![]()
what about the eastern churches? There was no Pope or RC until it was legalized and then made state religion.Actually, Christianity didn’t become legal in Rome until the late 300s by the Emperor Constantine. Do you know what the RCC Mass is and how its the Sacrifice of the Mass, and not just communion? Just wondering as I didn’t know this, so the Catholic communion is different than most or all (not sure of all tho). What is your communion like?I don’t like how the Catholic Church doesn’t practice open communion… They got the whole closed communion thing wrong… We Episcopalians do![]()
They got contacted after Christianity became legal. You have to understand that Eastern back then was Greece and Asia Minor. They were all under Roman rule when it finally came legalized. It took longer to get to them because Constantine was based more in Western Europe.what about the eastern churches? There was no Pope or RC until it was legalized and then made state religion.

Sorry, this doesn’t square with the historical facts. During almost all of the post-Calvary years, Rome was trying to kill the Christians, not use its political power to run the Church. Rome’s decline began to pick up right around the time the persecution of Christians ended. About a hundred years after the legalization of Christianity, the last emperor died.Early christians weren’t Roman Catholics, Rome was as much a political force as Religious. vast majority of NT was accepted as the Word of God before the Romans “cannonized it”. Rome didn’t “give” us the bible, outside of the controversal Revelation book the NT was widely accepted as truth before the RC “gave” us the bible. “True Churchism” distracts and seperates Christians. You say that the longevity of your RC church proves it to be the "true church: I would say that ROME being a powerful empire politcally Had a lot more to do with it 's longevity than it being the “True Church”.
Prove it.what about the eastern churches? There was no Pope or RC until it was legalized and then made state religion.
Oh I know what the RCC Mass is , just wondered if the poster knew , and why it can’t be an open communion. If you search your question, you will find an entire thread on this Subject

well proof of the eastern catholic Church is as strong as Peter being in Rome.Prove it.
SO once Rome legalized Christianty they “took” over christianity and became the “true” church. They got contacted after Christianity became legal. You have to understand that Eastern back then was Greece and Asia Minor. They were all under Roman rule when it finally came legalized. It took longer to get to them because Constantine was based more in Western Europe.
Wasn’t the Holy Roman Empire Quite Powerful in europe for over 1000 years? I contend that Rome’s Power as a Poltical force has more to do with the RCC longetivity than it being the “true” church.Sorry, this doesn’t square with the historical facts. Wrong! I already reminded you Rome DID NOT legal Christianity.Constantine the Roman emperor legalized Christianity in 313 and Theodosius made the official state religion in the late 4th century. You really need to study history.SO once Rome legalized Christianty they “took” over christianity and became the “true” church.
The powerful Roman Empire existed long before the Catholic Church, please stop making up history. You may say that the longevity of your RC church proves it to be the "true church: I would say that ROME being a powerful empire politcally Had a lot more to do with it 's longevity than it being the “True Church”.
That’s the problem, Protestants aren’t deep in history.Wrong! I already reminded you Rome DID NOT legal Christianity.Constantine the Roman emperor legalized Christianity in 313 and Theodosius made the official state religion in the late 4th century. You really need to study history.
Thanks for those clarifications. I’ve read the answer to your question elsewhere, but I can’t recall it off the top of my head. I’ll do some research on it, and at least point you to what I’ve read, if you like. If you respect and even envy a little the ability to make the decision, I hope I can be of service in helping you towards same, if that’s your wish. In any event, have a good evenin’.Sure. The early Church did not consist of one see. The others sees were also there. Here’s the point; the early Church determined doctrine and teachings by councils.
Well, those same numbers point to 248, I believe different Catholic Churches. But that wasn’t the point. So, now that the patriarchates are in schism, which one is the Spirit-guided voice of truth and infallibility, and how do we know?
You see, while I respect, even in some ways envy your ability to choose between Rome and Orthodoxy, I can’t find the evidence for a choice between the two.
And also with you, my friend.

This is the “great apostasy” claim that says Jesus left the Church without knowledge of salvation for a thousand years and that billions of people went unsaved for no good reason. It’s an insult to the finished work of Christ, the height of arrogance, and plainly against the Bible.SO once Rome legalized Christianty they “took” over christianity and became the “true” church.
The HOLY Roman did NOT exist prior. 2 different empires. The powerful Roman Empire existed long before the Catholic Church, please stop making up history.
Catholicism became a politcal force as much as religious. Did Christ for a Christian empire to dominate nations? I dont see it. The CCs longevity and “visiblity” is due to its politcal power not due to it being the “true church”.This is the “great apostasy” claim that says Jesus left the Church without knowledge of salvation for a thousand years and that billions of people went unsaved for no good reason.
