Thank you Techno 2000!

While beginning the Rosary today as I was reciting the Apostle’s Creed I could not help but think about this again.

I need an answer (Especially from Protestants):

What need is there for Jesus to judge the living AND THE DEAD if we are judged immediately upon death?

I understand that we are not united with our bodies until the second coming, but our souls are what Jesus judges. So when Jesus comes He is not going to judge our bodies to see if they are worthy of uniting with our souls.

So again…

“He will come again to judge the living and the dead” seems to me to reference that there is a place other than Heaven and hell for a soul to go. (Again, why would He judge a soul twice if there were no purgatory?)

The second judgment at the return of Christ is the throne judgment of the goats and the sheep described in Matthew 25. Though we are judged when we die, and immediately enter a state of paradise or hades…God in His wisdom has determined that the secrets and judgment of all men will be made known when the resurrection occurs. As to the exact why…well, I suppose only God knows that.
