hehe, i get excited when i see someone considering the catholic church! because once the truth has been revealed them nothing else matters! Trust me, you’ll know what i’m talking about.

On your last quote, have you read the catechism yet? you will find the answer your questions there. If i can give you advice that has helped me greately? Visit Jesus in the blessed eucharist as often as you can! it helped me immensely.
Thank you for the advice! I haven’t read much of the catechism yet - only bits online, but I would prefer to read it in a book (easier on the eyes and something I can lug around for quick reference). There is a really good (I hear) Catholic Church just up the road from me. One of the visions I had was doing just as you’ve suggested regarding the Eucharist. If this question isn’t odd, or too vague, may I ask how visiting Jesus in the Blessed Eucharist has been such a concession to your walk in Christ?

You can ask all you want!🙂

Yes i agree, i’m the same with reading. I prefer books rather then the website.

Regarding the eucharist: If you honestly believe that the lord is present there right in front of you, that the same Jesus that walked the earth is right there only metres away from you then this opens your heart and mind even more to him! This is the key! Realising that Jesus is right there.Once you realise his presence, you will feel it also, trust me you will. With everything i have i channel all my thoughts, all my energy, everything towards adoring and worshipping him! In his presence i say the rosary, the chaplet of divine mercy, i read the bible, i speak to him, read holy books and this is how my knowledge of the faith and my faith grows! I never stop examining my conscience and acts and ask him how i can become a better Catholic and how i can serve him best.

The key is acknowledging that his there, this is what is most important!

Now once you realise this, would you not want to do everything you can to get closer to him? Imagine our lord appeared to you at home or in the street? Would you not drop and worship him right there? (i know what i would do)

it’ the same with the eucharist.

I hope that has helped?

It helped me, Louie.

And I didn’t even ask 😉

Nice post. Thanks.👍
Excellent! I’m glad it did!

Thanks! but the real thanks goes to Our lord for helping me (and others) realise this with the ever reliable aid of Our lady!

I came here because I am prayerfully considering conversion to Catholicism. I have been for some time. I want to learn more about it. The more I am learning, the more I am sure I am ready. :heaven:

AJ,
Let the light of The Word shine Brother! Sharper than any two edged sword.

Jon
Phi 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

All things? I don’t see limited power there can you?

Are you not a priest? Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Joh 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

It must be then that in order to do something Godly, we must first have Him?

If the answer to that question is in the affirmative, then you are made a king and priest unto God, by which you may offer spiritual sacrifices unto God.

If so, then you have a direct access to the Father via the Holy Spirit as a king and priest of God.

One day I’m going to be Catholic. I just wanted to see what I was getting myself into. Not that it makes a difference; the call to this Faith has been undeniable.
Good for you, Primox (and KansasGirl too). Definitely, what you see on this forum shouldn’t make much of a difference in your decision to become Catholic (see also CAF does NOT represents Catholicism).

I hope that has helped?
It has, indeed. Thanks so much :). It acctually answers a question that died in another thread I posted, without reply. Sweet, sweet closure.

Horrah! I, likewise. :D. May I ask, tangently, what drew you to Catholicism?

True enough. It’s a shame that some might be turned off by participating in a couple haughty threads. Although I think there’s more bickering and hostility than there ought to be among all believers, there are plenty that are patient, kind, and willing to instruct, even despite opposition. I’m very thankful for that.

Yeah. I wonder how many people have joined CAF, then left and joined a Protestant forum, only to end up saying to themselves “Wait a second, this is just as bad as CAF, it’s just Catholic-bashing in place of Protestant bashing.”

I’m here 'cause while I’m seriously considering joining the Catholic Church, I needed to wrestle with a lot of issues (theological & otherwise) i have with it, first.

anyway, i wanted to see what regular catholics believed of the subjects before talking to a priest about 'em too. & i figured i’d get some answers in the process.

Open a new thread, AJ. Let’s not hijack this one.

I was responding to erikhnh’s post. After all, is this not the point of this thread to give voice of different views to where by some may learn something that they would not otherwise learn if it were not an open forum?
…why do you participate on a Catholic forum” is because some Catholics are open to understand what makes the protestants tic.

Well, here is the opportunity to find out, on this thread and with genuine Protestant views.

This is the place to learn, if one wants, by civil discussions and without criticisms, the deeper mysteries of the word of God.

Take what you want out of it and leave the rest, and continue to remain loyal to your type and method of worship and or unless the Spirit of God leads you elsewhere.

There is absolutely nothing to fear from God when one is seeking Him out, but rather a form of praise to Him that we do.

Pro 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

If we are to understand that verse; it is telling us that it is glory to God for us to seek things that is His, given Him reason to had hid them in the first place.

In the bible are many mysteries and are there for us to seek out understanding of them, that is, if we so desire.

For some, those mysteries are interpreted for personal gain, to control, to lord over, to instill fear, and to keep people under bondage.

Christ has made us free, not to be under bondage to any view, but for us to be led by His Spirit to honor and worship Him with the heart.

A free person need not have any rules because the love generated towards God has no limit.
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

By those shall the faithful be judged: Jam 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

This then is the fulfilling of the whole law when we are liberated to do so by shear will, being our love for God: Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

The view with the greatest understanding towards all others, is but a servant to them.
That is consistent with this verse: Mar 10:44 And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.

It works both in position and in knowledge.

Jesus was both, of high position (after the order of Melchizedek ) and knowledgeable because He had direct contact with the Father.

Yet, He came to serve.

Hmm…It has been a lot of things throughout my life. The more I look back at my childhood even, there are things there that were “calling” me. Mostly what it has been is the peace I feel inside of a Catholic church. It’s hard to explain really. :o

I can see that :). Good for you!

All I’m saying, AJ, is that we all can get carried away on tangential topics, unrelated to the OP, which was specific and limited in scope. None of us should take advantage of that to start preaching our personal beliefs about Christianity. I was a bit guilty of it myself, by responding to an off-topic post. Go ahead and preach if you insist, but just realize that quite often, that’s known as “hijacking”.

God Bless, as always.

Hi look, I suggest you look up threads on Melchizedek and the first Church, they have info on what you want to talk about.😉
Peace be with you

God bless and welcome kansasgirl!

Keep learning, you will find that you can’t get enough of it and this is your soul longing for more! I would give you the same advice that i gave to pimox and that is to visit out lord as often as possible in the eucharist!

I’m praying for you! Read the catechismo of the catholic church and the bible! you won’t regert it!

I think it is wonderful that some of you are considering making your journey back to the Creator with the aid of the Catholic Church and all that it can offer in the spiritual warfare for your and all people’s souls.

The Catholic Church is many things. It is a living and breathing entity with structure and authority. It claims as it’s inauguration day, Pentecost, and that it’s authority comes directly from Christ, given to Peter and the remaining ten Apostles at the Last Supper. It claims that it’s priests have the power and authority to forgive or bind sins. It is a community of believers fighting the good fight here on earth and a community of believers triumphant in heaven, both of which are praying for the repose of the souls of our brothers and sisters in Purgatory. It is a Sacramental Church, taking ordinary objects and transforming them into supernatural, eternal life giving experiences. It places the highest possible regard on the human family and human life. It draws all of it’s strength from the real presence of our Lord in the Eucharist and is nourished by this Heavenly Food. The Church calls itself One, Holy, Universal ( Catholic ) and Apostolic. It holds the Mother of our Lord in the highest esteem without worshiping her, and it seeks her Maternal aid and her position of favor in having her intercede on all of our behalf, so that we might find favor with her Son. The Catholic Church is the Mystical Body of Christ and as such, goes into the world to continue His work, by providing education, by providing health care, by it’s missionary works the world over, feeding and clothing the poor, visiting the sick and the imprisoned. The Catholic Church is also a Church of great prayer. Now and for centuries, there are consecrated religious men and women whose daily lives are spent in prayer. They are cloistered ( closed off ) from society and make their purpose in life the salvation of souls by there lives of sacrifice, worship and unceasing prayer. The Catholic Church is a wonderful and Holy gift from God and is to be treated as such. To be a member of such a community is truly a blessing and calls each and every one of it’s members to holiness and a profound sense of gratitude for all that it’s Founder has, is and will provide. The Catholic Church is and should be the earthly extension of the Love of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit and will remain such until our Lord comes in Glory to raise the living and the dead. It is the responsibility of each and every member to uphold the ideals, Truths and mission of this Church and it’s success will be determined by the collective fidelity to our God through it’s faith, hope and love.

If any of you are to join, may your presence enrich us and may you bring great glory and honor to the Holy and Almighty God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

May the Peace of Christ be with us all, always.

JT
