I wonder why it is so common among Protestants to attack any other religion and/or the Catholic Church. From my many experiences with them, I can sense a rather closed mindedness to anything that is not what they believe. This sometimes is expressed even in offensive ways. If Christianity is the religion of love, how can they treat us so harshly. And why do they need everybody to be convinced that they are the ones who are right. Indeed many of them think that anyone that is not protestant will not be saved. I think this is giving God a bad name, like He is this being with a rigid and super strict mentality that will make no exceptions for persons that did not have enough exposure to Christianity so as to consider becoming Christians. I also find ironic that they are so insistent in making everybody protestant and at the same time they claim that human beings are deprived by nature and that they are pretty much totally dependent on grace for behaving in a Christian way. At the same time they think that you can sin all you want and as long as you believe that Jesus was God and that He died on the cross for your sins, you are saved. For me this is all like spiritual schizophrenia. Please comment.

I’d say you’re pigeonholing all Protestants by the actions of a few.

I hope you are right. But I have met many and 99 percent of them think this way. They are always the ones attacking us. I believe in ecumenism but my experience is that they usually strongly oppose any open minded attitude towards salvation for persons of other beliefs.

In my experience growing up in Texas is that many many protestants (and more than a few Catholics) really do not understand their religion and it is spoon fed the them by their parents and/or preachers and they’ve never really thought much about it. Therefore anything that falls outside of their narrow mindset must be WRONG and therefore should be attacked.

Given there are over 500 million protestants in the world I highly doubt you met them all and are in a position to make this generalization.

I know hundreds of Catholics that see communion as totally symbolic. Many Roman Catholic theologians at the Vatican feel this way as well. I know hundreds more that don’t like the RCCs focus on Mary. Does that suddenly justify me making a statement that all Catholics believe this way? Or that it’s justified just because I say well 99% of all the ones I met feel this way? I fail to see the point of your thread.
