Do you think there will be Catholics in Heaven? I know all Christian do (or should) believe that only God knows who will be in Heaven, and I know Protestant denominations all believe different things, but I was wondering about your personal opinion

Given that most of the posters here are Catholic, I would imagine that your responses would be a general ‘yes, there will be Catholics in heaven." Given that the Protestants on this board are generally polite and reasonable, I would imagine that the answer would be "yes,’ there will be Catholics in heaven, if they are Christian."

Shoot; I’m neither Protestant nor Catholic; I’m a Mormon and I believe that there will be plenty of Catholics in heaven. 😉

I do not identify as Protestant, but most people, especially here, would probably classify me as one.

I believe the Bible teaches that a follower of Jesus Christ is a Christian. I believe that a follower of Jesus Christ is a Christian regardless of where s/he assembles on weekends.

Because there are followers of Jesus Christ who have decided to assemble at Catholic congregations and make them their congregation homes, there are Christians who are Catholics. Therefore, as Jesus Christ will see all Christians into Heaven, there will be Catholics in Heaven.

Wow! This really surprises me. Really cool.

I’ve rarely met a Protestant who didn’t believe that a sincere and devout Catholic couldn’t have a place in heaven…cept maybe a few born-again baptists.

I’m not sure how long I’ll stay Protestant, but I do believe that the great majority of Catholics will be in heaven.

But I do have family who believe that the great majority of Catholics will end up in Hell.

I’m not sure if Anglicans are Protestant or Catholic or just weird :D, but I’ll answer anyway. Yes, there will absolutely be countless Catholics there. No doubt in my mind.

LOL! No offense, but your family members are confident they will go to Heaven? It never fails to amaze me how so many people believe they can determine who is going to Heaven or Hell?

I’d put it to context to your family that they are either for, or against the body of Christ, for them to condemn Catholics is against the body of Christ, and by maintaining that stance unto death, they themselves are condemning themselves to hell itself, period, end of game…

Well…the Christian Heaven IS Catholic. Do I think Christians will be in heaven? That’s a strange question.

Will there be Protestants in Heaven, hopefully after they pass through Purgatory. 🙂
That will be a rude awakening.

God Bless.

Do I think there will be Catholics in heaven? Absolutely.

I’m not sure precisely what heaven is like, but let’s assume it’s a paradise of some sort. Hope that doesn’t make it too boring, frankly. Rather hate to think of spending eternity saying the rosary or singing Te Deums.

Now, I have major doubts about the existence of Purgatory and I see that Limbo has now all but been eliminated by the church. And I find it hard to imagine a loving God maintaining a hellishly hot hell forever. Maybe those real evil people - Hitler and such - just die dead. Then, again, Hitler was baptized a Catholic. Now if he genuinely repented the very last second, after taking the suicide pill, what happens then? Hell, purgatory, heaven?

Okay. Of course, heaven will be full of good folks of all faiths. All varieties of Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, etc. Jesus will get them through the Pearly Gates, the true meaning of 'no one cometh unto the Father but by me.' I'm not sure about Christians like Mussolini, Jews like Madoff, Muslims like bin Laden, etc. I do know that I spent time living with a Hindu family in India some years ago, and if they don't make it I'm not sure very many of us will get in. They were better 'Christians' than many who claim to be faithfully followers of Jesus. They certainly loved God and their neighbors.

Perhaps you've heard the old joke. Some Protestants, newly-arrived in heaven, were being escorted to their new celestial quarters. St. Peter was accompanying them up the elevator to the 7th floor. "Only one thing," St. Peter asked, "when we pass by the 4th floor please be very quiet. That's where the Catholics are and they think they're the only ones here."

I cannot tell you who will be in Heaven since I don’t know the state of any soul but my own.

I personally trust my fate to the mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ, without whose atoning sacrifice for sins all of us would be lost. All my faith is in Him.

I suspect that there will be a great many repentant sinners in heaven, just as St. Peter said when he told Our Lord, "But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for** I am a sinful man**, O Lord.” (Luke 5:8)

I’m not Catholic or Orthodox, so I’m Protestant by default. That doesn’t mean I think Catholics and Orthodox aren’t real Christians.

I think we’re ALL likely to be surprised by who’ll be in Heaven and who won’t. Some we never expected will be there. And some we were sure would be, won’t.

I’m a hopeful Universalist. I believe God wants everybody to be saved and so my hope is that everybody will be saved. It seems to me that if even just one person remains outside the love of God at the end of time it will mean that one person has managed to defeat the love of God. And I don’t see how such a situation can reflect God’s complete triumph over evil. If God were no more than a King or Judge then it would be possible to speak of his triumph if his enemies were agonizing in hell or were totally and completely obliterated out of existence. But God is not only King and Judge – God is Father. It’s difficult for me to suppose that any human father could be happy while there were members of his family forever in agony so I find it even more difficult to believe such a thing about God. And no father I know would count it a triumph to obliterate the disobedient members of his family. It seems to me that the only triumph a father can know is to have all his family back home (cf. Luke 15).

I recognize, of course, that I could be completely wrong about this but I have no difficulty living with that tension. 🙂

Hopefully,
Mick

Ha ha ha. 👍

In any case, I think there will be only one religion in Heaven. How could it be otherwise, when we will all have perfect knowledge of God? If us Protestants are “right” - meaning more right than the others, not perfectly right - than every heavenly resident will be Protestant (though of course there will be nothing to “protest” against). This will doubtless include great heaping oodles of souls who were Catholics on Earth. If demographics mean anything, more than were Protestants on Earth. 🙂

And if the Catholics are right, obviously everyone in Heaven will be Catholic, whatever they may have been in the previous life.

If you are patient and wait long enough you may get to see many Catholics in heaven. Otherwise the place to look for them is purgatory - that’s where they will end up before the final destination. 😉

I believe whoever Christ calls His, will be in heaven no matter what church they belong to.
