Hey so im new here. I was doing some research at some protestant forums, and I noticed that whenever (and this is rare i found) a good learned catholic came into one of thier disscussions the catholic would blow the protestants misconceptions, and false doctrines out of the water. Anyone else see this? Just something I noticed.

Yeah. That is, until the Catholic finds himself swiftly banned…

Two words: SCOTT HAHN👍 😃 🙂

BTW: Welcome to CAF! Stop off at the Water Cooler and say hi:) !

Prayers and petitions,
Alexius

Not at all:eek: !!! I know many very intelligent Protestants! I think one of problems is that many Christians (in general) are taught by people who don’t take the time to sort out reality from myth. In their zealous passion for Christ, they attack those who they believe distort the truth (non-________). Unfortunately, a lot of these “truths” turn out out to be misconceived:( .

“Yes, that’s because we’re dumb.” 😛 I know you wrote that incorrectly on purpose to be sarcastic and/or to prove a point.

It’s not about being dumb. But it is about being ignorant. Protestants just don’t have the whole truth and they don’t undertsand what the Catholic Church teaches. That’s pure ignorance, not unintelligence.

I have seen something related to what you report, which is that on a fairly regular basis Protestants will come to such boards to show Catholics the error of their ways, and will end up converting to Catholicism based in part on the responses from Catholics to their attempts. Even now I am watching on another forum the progress of two such Protestants into the Catholic faith. I have never seen the opposite occur (though of course I don’t claim that it can’t or doesn’t).

Some Protestants just don’t know, others have been misinformed, others know what we believe but reject our interpretation of it.
For example, where we honor and pray to Mary, even though the protestant knows what we believe, they will still say it is worshipping.
But when I speak to my friends who are Protestants, they will say things like:
The Catholic Church added the extra books to the bible at the council of Trent, or they will say, oh, infant baptism, you guys invented that near the time of the plague, because you didn’t want your kids to die and go to hell.
In these cases, when I explain the subject, they reject it for whatever the source is that they are getting their information.

I am not sure if I want to post on some of those other sites, they can be extremely rude to Catholics there, I know there is some of that here, but not to that extent. I can be blunt sometimes in my posts and I read them later and think why did I write that. Too bad my word processor doesn’t have a politeness check to use when I use my spell check.

I find Catholics often have the same stock-standard quotes they use to support Catholicism, and seldom (in my personal experience) have I found any that have investigated their own apologist web-sites any further).
