I am Catholic but I also went to Protestant Church for many many years and did a lot of Bible Study. I was half raised Catholic and the other nothing,

Thank you and I do not believe everything I believe in the word of God,I do stick to what I have studied and love it.
When you say Catholic, you should make it clear you mean you ‘think’ you’re Catholic as in belonging to the invisible body of Christ and not to the visible Catholic Church in unity with the Pope.

I will say one thing. Bravo for finally putting protestant in your profile as to prevent confusion when your protestant brethren used to see only Catholic in there after hearing your man made truths derived from your sole interpretation from the Written Word of God.

With the attitude this seems to be written with, tell me why I’d ever want to be a catholic when that’s the attitute of the CC against some of it members. (Of course that’s assuming your opinion of tweetymom is in unity with the CC.)

this goes back to what St.Paul was speaking of regarding judging…it’s a family matter since you aren’t of the family stay out of it eh.🙂

I have not seen any NT evidence that when the translaters of the Gospels called some males and some females the brothers and sister of Jesus they were anything but brothers and sisters. So I’d have to answer you that you’ve falsely understood me.
Indeed, I must have as I thought you meant by saying you had reviewed the Catholic perspective on this, you had seen the evidence. It is onthe other thread I linked.

In context to my statement, are you saying you don’t think Mary and Joseph new Jesus was (is) God thereby agreeing with me making your statement I was commenting on of little value?
They knew they had Messiah, who was conceived by God. I am not sure if they understood all the implications of it at the time. Do you not think that raising Messiah, whether you understood His divine nature or not, would be a task you would take most seriously and with complete devotion?

Would you agree then that you’ve rejected the evidence I’ve shown you or would you say that I’ve not shown you real evidence? Get my point?

All Jewish families thought that ONE of their sons could be the Messiah. They usually treated all their sons special. As they would not know the ramification of having the Messiah, my guess is they’d want to give Him siblings to make His education more complete (knowing the responsibility of being the oldest Son.)

Nice try to cover for Des, but no cigar.

That still doesn’t explain why anyone would want to become part of your ‘family’ with such a negitive comment.

Where were these “siblings” when Jesus got “left” behind at the temple?it seems from this stroy Christ knew a lot more than did the teachers.

No, mistakes are made because the Holy Writings are separated from the Sacred Tradition that produced them. 😃
Maybe I wasn’t making myself clear: I don’t think there’s any mistakes in the Bible; the mistakes come with your and my understanding. I know my can be incorrect but you’re not able to think the CC could be incorrect.

What does the fact Jesus surprised the teachers have to do with where His sibling were?

HIs siblings would obviously be younger. They would not be ‘about My Father’s business’ so they would have been with their parents. Pretty simple.

Cause it’s still here like Jesus the founder said it would, and didn’t join in or bow out half-way down the line, the Catholic Church train is still running, in-spite of satan’s attempts to de-rail it.

It can’t fall, that would make Jesus a liar, and we know who the father of those are.

Jesus will protect His church; that doesn’t necessarily mean the CC. It is His Body, the group of all true believers.

If you think you don’t have preconceived understandings you are self deceived. We all have. That’s not the important thing. The important things are whether or not any of it is based on the Truth and if it is not, will be we willing to change our minds when the Truth is presented by the light of the Holy Spirit?

the truth of Mary’s perpetual virginity was revealed by the Holy Spirit through the Church and you refuse to hear the Holy Spirit on the truth of this matter.

so you think, however you are the one saying Christ was to be “educated” in responsiblity by having siblings then He should have been with His parents doing the work of an older sibling which namely is taking care of them while His parents attended to the business at hand.

I see no evidence that it’s a teaching from the Holy Spirit. I hope to be open to the Holy Spirit if He wants me to believe a teaching not obvious in the Word of God. So what I refuse is your understanding.

yep the invisible body with NO authority, the one that nobody can find to settle disputes.
