I know - that’s the problem. The average person has a hard time balancing a check book. The average person is a closeted bigot, and homophobe. The average person thinks that cheetos, and twinkie’s are part of a food group. The average person can’t drive a car. And Jesus thanked his father for hiding the mysterys of salvation from the sleek and arrogant and revealing it to the little ones. What God has against that " fat " of this world is their insufferable pride. That is why he loves that ditzy little cash register at Mc Donalds or the dirty guy changing oil in your car or that rotten kid who just gave you the one finger salute. He loves the humble and meek and the prostitutes, all of whom will go into the Kingdom before the rest of us.

Well - of course it’s convenient to believe things that way. Theosophy. You’re catholic - everything you say is always correct. It has to be that way. God never once thought that these words of his - being propagated from the derelict and daft of mind would never be questioned logically or understood huh? Not one eh? Sure - the meek inherent the earth - of course - it makes sense. That’s 90% of the earth eh!! Awesome. No no no - the 1% won’t inherent the earth - it’s the daft, and logically bereft who will inherent - it’s like it’s their Job!! Sheeple!!! Vote for the party that destroyed our country, be mad at Obama (goodness that guy murders babies, and wants everyone to have healthcare!!) Never question that the GOP wants government out of our lives - and in the same breath wants to tell us who to marry, and have sex with???..Awesome…Yea! I’m a misanthrope? Me? I’ll take that as a compliment. Rush Limbaugh goes on, and on about scumbag drug addicts, etc…etc…and then catches a case for drug addiction. THIS IS OUR WORLD?? Why would I want anyone claiming that they have some authority from god, or that this is what god wanted---- telling me anything?? Why?? Heck a week later they’ll probably get picked up for dated rape or child molestation. I’m a misanthrope?? Really??

Well, not necessarily, but it is pretty sweet that the fullness of Truth has been revealed to us.

I’m getting the feeling that you think that we just know it all and that we think everyone else is dumb. Many Catholics, including me, have an internal struggle going on, where we just know God exists, by both faith and reason, yet we have our doubts and tough times. However, we know that because of our faith in God’s existence, what he has revealed to us about truth gets us back on track. It is not easy to conform to Truth; just look at so many people in this world today who either do not believe in God or refuse to submit themselves to Him, despite having access to the Truth.

But ManRay, once we have access to it and have accepted it, there may be things we don’t understand about it, or just have a hard time coming to terms with, but it doesn’t matter what our human minds think - it’s Truth, and we have to do our best to conform to it and evangelize people. Thank goodness so many people on these forums have a pretty darn good understanding of the philosophy and theology of the Catholic faith! I know it has helped me quite a bit.

And I must say, those people who I have just described as having “a pretty darn good understanding” of these things, yeah, of course it sounds like they know everything, but has it occurred to you and to others who “debate” with us that we could say the same about you? That wasn’t meant to be offensive or anything, but do you see what I mean? You’re presenting your position which you think is correct, and we our presenting ours.

Scientists say that the universe is like 13 billion yrs old (not sure). Makes me wonder what was there 15 billion yrs ago. How can all this great universe come into existence all of a sudden? One explanation GOD!

As I understand time, it’s entangled with matter (so the passage of time in a given area is influenced by how much matter is around and the associated gravity field). With that understanding of time I kind of wonder what time before 13.75 billion years ago would mean.

I was raised anti-Catholic and thought that Catholics must think in lockstep but after becoming Catholic, I realized this is far from true. Catholic faith is much more diverse than the Southern Baptist theology I grew up on. St. Francis and St Thomas Aquinas are about as different as two men can be. Further, Thomas read pagans, Jewish and Muslim thinkers—he certainly thought non-Catholics had much to teach him.
