Hi there,
I had been wondering something although it will likely be for something down the road in maybe 1-3 years or later. I am curious if Psalm 118 (This is the day the Lord has made) is appropriate for a wedding outside of Easter. I am asking since I really like the Psalm and somehow I feel like one of the verses describes some of my life events. I have seen several different Catholic parishes’ online wedding suggestions and it is on some but not all do. I also looked at like the pamphlets from OCP and they don’t list it. Just something I want to know ahead.

Thanks.

I don’t know why it couldn’t be a choice, particularly if your parish substitutes one psalm or canticle for another.

It could be argued that, since Easter is the celebration of “Heaven wedded to earth and human to the divine” (as proclaimed at the Easter Exultet), Psalm 118 is entirely appropriate at the celebration of a sacrament that is a sign of this true marriage of Christ and the Church.

I chose that psalm for my wedding!

I have also sung at many weddings and used Psalm 128. There are some nice settings of it.
