“So wasted are my hands and feet that I can count all my bones.”

This is the translation from my new family NAB while an older bible does translate it as “pierced my hands and feet” Can anyone explain why the difference in translation?

Can’t tell you why, but the Jewish text (translated to English) reads:

17 Dogs surround me; a pack of evil ones closes in on me, like lions they maul my hands and feet.

18 I take the count of all my bones while they look on and gloat.

The Latin/English translation reads:

17For many dogs have encoumpassed me: the council of the malignant hath besieged me. They have dug my hands and feet.

18 They have numbered all my bones. And they have looked and stared upon me.

So, I’m not sure where to go with this.

Some might argue the interpretations are all loose, for various reasons. But, I am not going to lose any sleep over the whys and wherefores. I’ll let my faith settle it.
