I just received my copy of the new **Mundelein Psalter **from Liturgy Training Publications. What a beautiful volume. But I have one question for anyone who might know: Why aren’t the **Psalm Prayers **included for Morning and Evening Prayer. I know in the General Instruction for the Liturgy of the Hours it says…“112. Psalm-prayers for each psalm are given in the supplement to the Liturgy of the Hours as an aid to understanding them in a primarily Christian way…” Is this “supplement” they are referring to (which has obviously been included in the flow of Psalms in the new LOH) only a US addition? Are they optional? Anyone know the history of these Psalm Prayers and their relatve importance in saying the LOH?

Thanks and God bless…

They are a US addition and do not appear in the original Latin. Although one might argue for their mandatory nature, if you read the General Instruction for the Liturgy of the Hours, there is no instruction to say them.
