Had been procrastinating getting my St. Joseph guide to the liturgy of the hours I just wanted to verify that we will be usingweek one tomorrow

Yes we are. I just moved over my bookmarks to Volume a few minutes ago.

week one begins first Sunday of Advent
Monday after Baptism of the Lord (or that day, if celebrated on a MOnday I presume)
first Sunday of Lent
Easter Sunday
and there is a list for what week begins monday after Pentecost
2008 week 2
2009 week 1
2010 week 4

I am reading from the front of Shorter Christian Prayer

I am reading from the front of Shorter Christian Prayer
I’ve been praying the Hours for about seven years and still totally lost without my St. Joseph guide. This year I thought I would be extra organized so I ordered my 2008 guide in November. It came and I promptly lost it.

I used the shorter form, Christian Prayers, the Liturgy of the Hours, for many years, until this year, as a result of a gift, my wife and myself were able to get two sets of the four volume set.

I love the four volume set. However, for those thinking about learning the Liturgy of the Hours, the condensed Christian Prayers, The Liturgy of the Hours, is actually an easier way to start.

First off, the difference between the four volume set and the single volume, is the Office of the Readings. The four volume set has the complete readings, whereas its shorter in the Christian Prayer version.

Most people will only do Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer, on a daily basis. For this, the single volume Christian Prayer, is the exact same thing as the four volume set, and only cost $30, verses $120. Also, its easier to get the hang of.

So, if you want to get into the Liturgy of the Hours, but are hesitating because of the cost of the four volume set, have no apprehension about going with the single Christian Prayer version.

It was a treasure for my wife and myself for many years. Now, doing the four volume set is easy to understand, because of our experience with the shorter version.
